46 | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2023 | For this Club, the month of October was critical. We held a luncheon meeting on Oct. 6 with 42 members of our Club attending. In the December issue of OHCC Living, a full discussion of the results of that meeting will appear. However, there were some immediate positive outcomes from that meeting: (1). Overwhelmingly, members want the Club to continue, to remain as strong as possible. (With the resignation of a very committed president, Rich Halkyard, because of health matters, replacing him in the presidency became a critical issue… it was the purpose of the luncheon meeting to discuss this issue.) (2). The question of communication had to be solved. The majority in attendance voted to continue with the online site MeetUp, a site where all of our activities are communicated. Every attempt will be made to have members be able to use this site. MeetUp will be supported with the use of emails used to be in contact with membership. Several hikes in October took us to Carlsbad locally, to Encinitas, to Rancho Penasquitos, and back to the beach in Encinitas. November puts us first on a 6.5- mile trail in San Marcos — San Elijo Hills Loop from San Elijo Park (Nov. 3); Nov. 10, on Gunstage Trail in Ramona; and Nov. 16, on Del Mar Mesa. In November, we will announce a new Board to guide the Club. The luncheon could not have been better — many thanks go to Lori Smith, Gerry Livsey, Marla Reiter, Laura Carlson, Alicia Oliger, and Michelle Gamble for the work they did prior to and during the luncheon to make it successful. If you have questions about our Club, its function, or its activities, write to Herb Livsey, VP acting in role of President, at fstbrk5@aol. com. You may call him at his home, (760) 940-0605. If you want a hard copy of our hikes and walks through mid-December, contact Herb Livsey. Join us on a hike or walk. ~ Written by Herb Livsey Walkers & Hikers Golf Club Well, 2023 is drawing to a close. Only one Guys and Dolls Tournament on Oct. 29 and one more Touring Amateur event at Welks Fountain Course on Nov. 13 finish our season. Hoping in 2024 we will be returning to our Special Tournaments and Match Play competitions as well. Here are some of the winners of the Touring Amateurs tourney at Lomas Santa Fe on Sept. 18. Congrats to Greg Coffey for his hole in one on the 8th hole. And kudos to the Low Gross foursome of Bill Nordberg, Mike Stern, Lance Erickson, and John Jarf. And to the Low Net team of Tim Johnston, Greg Coffey, Bob Bechill, and Sheri Mc Daniel. Closest to the Pin winners were Tim Johnston and Sue Smith. Magic Circle hot shots were Lance Erickson, Roxana Davison, and Sheri McDaniel. Way to go everyone! I've included three photos of some happy golfers to conclude the article. Here is Bill Nordberg straining to bend over to pluck his tenth hole in one ball from the 13th hole. Some lovely ladies prepare to tee off on their Wednesday tournament. Finally, Wayne Worsely, Alan Ballard, and Wayne Schwabenland trying to fudge, I mean, add up their scores at Lomas Santa Fe. Once again, a big thank you to Aegis for sponsoring our tournaments!
