| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2023 |25 Music Lovers Hello to all members of the Music Lovers Club and to those who come out to enjoy our music every month. Our end of summer party in September was wonderful, and we are glad to have been switched to the Palm Court to enjoy the beautiful evening outdoors together. Thanks to all who volunteered their time, music, talents, and desserts to make it a success. November is upon us, and change is in the air. At this month's general meeting we will elect our slate of officers. We've also submitted our requests for next year's club activities and events. Soon, we will learn if our requested dates, times, and venues are confirmed. What is certain, our lineup of Coffeehouse Mondays, Villagers Concerts, Karaoke Nights, and our Musical Variety Show will continue in 2024. Coffee House Mondays will continue every Monday except holidays, and we'll be using the Palm Court in warmer weather. The Villagers concerts will continue both in Abravanel Hall and Palm Court. The 10 special events we are allotted each year will be comprised of The Villagers, Karaoke Night, and two nights for the Variety Show. General Meetings are moving to a Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and since we will have 12 meetings in the hall, some of those will include karaoke, music by the villagers and other performers. Next year, we will also have an official annual dinner. We've recruited some wonderful acts for our Musical Variety Show, our MC is locked in, and we've requested the last weekend in January for those two performances. We will be scheduling rehearsal times in December and the weeks leading up to our show dates in late January. We need volunteers for ticket sales, which will begin in December, so that we can pack the house come January. We also need volunteers for our stage crew to be at our two to four on-stage rehearsals as well as the dress rehearsal and the two shows. At this writing, our nominating committee is hard at work filling our open board member positions with nominees, and we have a lead on someone who can build our website for us. Hopefully by Thanksgiving our new website will be something I can give thanks for. We've started the dues renewal process, allowing members to begin paying their dues for next year. Any new members paying now will automatically be covered for all of 2024. This should help make Do Dues Day on Jan. 13 a little easier. Coming in November: Coffeehouse Monday: We have music every Monday in the lobby from 9:30 to 11:30 am. All are welcome to come and enjoy the music, a cup of coffee and some treats with us. General Meeting: Our meeting is on the second Thursday of this month Nov. 9 at which we will elect our new officers for 2024. We're having a potluck, so be sure and get out those fun casserole recipes. All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting. Villagers Concert: This month's concert is in Abravanel Hall on Nov. 17 from 4 to 6 pm. As always, all residents are invited to join us to enjoy the music, dance and sing along. Snacks are provided. BYOB beverages.
