16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | In the coming months, Securitas will be actively planning and coordinating dry-run emergency drills for the safety of Sun Lakes residents. These drills include evacuation procedures, identifying EPAP emergency station locations, and emergency communication protocols. The drills will consist of fire and earthquake emergencies and focus on fire observation and prevention, evacuation routes, fire- suppression techniques, and immediate aid to residents who require special assistance, such as those on ventilators. Securitas personnel will have emergency training and resources for emergency scenarios: First-aid kits, CPR training, and radios synced with EPAP. Speeding continues to be an issue in Sun Lakes, posing a potential safety risk. Securitas has intensified their efforts to monitor speeding with the assistance of residents who witness and report speeding violators to security. Patrol has been instructed to enforce speed limits as much as possible. The most common violators in the last month have been vendors and contractors. Since the security officers here are not law enforcement, they cannot pull violators over, but they can use their body cams for recording speeding incidents and obtaining license plate numbers and timestamps of violations. The information is reported on an incident report so that the Safety Advisory Committee can review and take further action if warranted. There have been resident concerns regarding vehicles parked in driveways overnight. Patrol responds to calls from residents by conducting checks on the vehicles in question to determine if they are in compliance with SLCC regulations. A common finding is that these vehicles are in compliance because they are displaying a valid overnight parking pass issued by Administration or one of the gate officers. Many have a registered disabled placard or plate which prevents patrol from issuing a citation. Stay safe, don't speed, stop at stop signs. If you see something, say something. Homeowners are welcome to attend the Finance Committee's regularly scheduled monthly meetings held on the third Wednesday of each month at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. We encourage all residents to become familiar with the finances of our community, and would like to hear about your concerns and encourage you to share them with us. A management member and the Board Treasurer are in attendance and we welcome your questions. Financial Advisory
