| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | 71 71 Now back to the Get the Joke stuff: To win a free dinner, find the ad, article or just weird, out-of- place, completely made-up (and hopefully funny) item in this month's Lifestyles. When you find it, fill out the box and email it to sunlakesnews@ yahoo.com before noon on the sixth of the month (or drop it off in the Main Clubhouse). If you are the first correct guess chosen at random, you will win a free dinner. Congratulations to this month's Dinner Winner: LAVERNE PROPHET Please call Kelly in the Admin. Office for your Sun Lakes Restaurant dinner. Can use to trim my tall trees. You always bring a smile to my face. Ron S. If I win the raffle, I will finally get my trees trimmed. George P. Wouldn't that be a sight to see… walking a giraffe down Country Club Drive! Sharon R. I love this one. Especially the "Giraffe in every home Society!" Hysterical! Denny S. Having a giraffe would save on tree and bush trimming costs! Lori F. I wonder if a really large enclosed pen comes with the giraffe? If not, I guess I could keep it in my guest room. Laurie W. 1,000 giraffes in Sun Lakes backyards, I love it! Maybe they could be trained to clean gutters! Nora B. Always wanted a giraffe except when they sleep badly and wake up with a stiff neck; they can be pretty snarky then. Gerry P. I need one to train to get things off my top shelves! Sue H. Ooh, ooh, I hope I win one of the giraffes in the raffle - what a fun pet! And, with Toys 'R Us reopening, I could rent it out to help pay for its food. I'm sure we could change the CC&Rs - maybe even letting them run free on the golf course. Wouldn't it be grand?! Barbara C. Finally I can have someone help clean the gutters! Chris J. your comments: GET THE JOKE! I found the joke! Resident name (first & last): ______________________________________ This was the joke: _____________________________________________ Comments (we LOVE your notes - about anything!): ____________________ __________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ Send your entry to sunlakesnews@yahoo.com or drop it at the Main Clubhouse Last month's joke: From Courtney, the publisher: Wow! What a great October! I very much appreciate the celebration of 20 years of Lifestyles. It's been a great job to have and I consider myself blessed to do what I love and meet so many wonderful people along the way. I started thinking about how I started what I'm doing now: graphic design and editing. When I was in the third grade, I remember being pulled out of the classroom and spending hours alone in the library writing essays. I'm sure I missed something important like the name of Columbus's three ships (the Niña, Pinta, and Santa Claus (I actually said that on television when I was five)). I must have shown some amazing essay ability and credit whoever spotted it with planting in me a love for writing. When I was 14 and a freshman in high school, I started a class newspaper. The school was brand spankin' new and just a freshman campus so had nothing to spread important information like when the flag football games were, Thoughts From the Cheer Squad, and an advice column on affairs of the heart. That was my first foray into publishing. I went on to be the editor of a real high school newspaper and we won all sorts of awards for writing and design. After college (armed with a degree in English Lit) I got a job as a graphic designer creating ads all day long for companies across the continent. I would make up to 50 ads a day. I was a machine. So when people ask me if I can create an ad or layout a page, I tell them it's my Superpower. It's not sexy. But I do it better and faster and higher and taller than anyone else I know. Would I rather fly? Yes. This month I want to give back to the few people who read this little missive, something I haven't done in a little while. Here is the Secret Contest Question for November: What is Your Superpower? (You have one, you know. We all do.)
