| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | 9 By Michele Walter, crystalwater@dc.rr.com If you did not have a chance to see the October presentation on Identity Theft/Scam Workshop presented by Supervisor Gutierrez' office, please tune in to Channel 97 or to the Sun Lakes website under Community Awareness and watch the video there. This program was extremely informative. Since the holidays are upon us, please be cautious when out shopping. As soon as you get into your car, lock the doors. Do not leave gifts in plain sight in your backseat — put your gifts in the trunk of your car. Be careful leaving the bank if you are getting money from the ATM. Make sure you look around and be mindful of your surroundings. We want to make our residents aware of the upcoming Replenishment Replacement Fund Assessment ballot measure. To establish this change to the CC&Rs, voting is required and we need a 75 percent approval rate from the entire community. The ballots will be mailed out in November and the election will be on Dec. 7. We want to make sure that residents understand that there is NO cost to existing homeowners. This assessment is for new home buyers only and has been successfully implemented in other HOA communities. This is a benefit to all of us. Our desire is to make sure all of our residents are aware that this is a necessity. Please make sure you vote "YES" on this extremely important measure. 5 SMART SECURITY STEPS Slow down! Telephone and online scammers often press you for immediate action. Share less of your personal information! People on Facebook and online neighborhood groups don't need to know your mother's maiden name, your birthday, or where you bank. Delete old accounts! The more digital accounts you have, the greater the risk of your personal information being stolen or misused. Stick with safe payment methods! Credit cards and Pay Pal offer legal protection not found with other methods. Use antivirus protection! Windows 10 and 11 have Microsoft Defender Antivirus, which can shield you from threats like Malware. Please join us for our next program on Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Amber Schelider from Animal Rescue will be our speaker. Let's all be informed and stay safe. For more information, please contact Michele Walter, (951) 202-8009 or email crystalwater@dc.rr.com.
