14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | The golf courses at Sun Lakes are an amenity for all homeowners with more than half our homes bordering one of the two golf courses. Surprisingly, many of our residents are not golfers yet they willingly choose to buy a home in our community. A big reason for this is the open spaces and beauty of the landscaping that comes with a well- manicured golf course. Our home values benefit greatly from this golf course setting, which sets it apart from similar communities in the area. The GAC takes serious their role in golf course maintenance to protect the value of these assets for the benefit all homeowners. At the end of September, tree trimming was completed on Championship Course hole #11. This consisted of trimming every tree on this hole. The work was done by a licensed and certified golf course arborist with expertise trimming mature trees like ours. This level of tree trimming to remove excess bulk improved the appearance, decreased obstructed views, and more importantly reduced a potential safety hazard especially during the winter rainy season. The GAC has received a number of positive comments from golfers and homeowners impressed by the quality of the work. We encourage residents to email a Board member or send a message to management if you would like to see more of this work. Golf Advisory Sun Lakes Committee Reports God Bless America! It's November and this month we will again honor and celebrate our bravest citizens on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Then it's Thanksgiving on Nov. 23 with more family holidays to follow. The Bingo Advisory Committee is happy to announce we will again support the Sun Lakes 12th Annual Veterans Day Walk event sponsored by the Recreation Department on Nov. 11 with a donation of $2,000. This event is a very worthy cause and everyone in our community needs to support this effort. The committee is also very proud to share that it has donated a whopping total of $8,000 to local charities this year. Mark your calendars! Our game nights this month are Nov. 14, 21, and 28. Bingo will be dark for the month of December due to all the holiday events happening in the Ballroom. The lounge and bar are open on Tuesday evenings.
