| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2023 | 3 As we welcome the fall season and the cooler weather it brings, it's the ideal time to get out and enjoy the many indoor and outdoor events and amenities going on in our community. The holiday season is right around the corner and we look forward to spending time with family and friends. Before you know it, the districts will be lighting Christmas Trees so it's time to get your ugly holiday sweater ready for the annual ugly sweater contest. We all look forward to hot cider, hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday entertainment. Here is just a sample of activities and events to check out in November: One of the most anticipated cultural events offering an abundance of music, dancing, and Greek cuisine is Greek Night. Join Thomas and Chef Chris at this festive event on Nov. 4 at 5 pm in the Ballroom. Tickets are $34.95 plus tax and gratuities. Tickets can be purchased at the Restaurant hostess desk in the Main Clubhouse. Many events sell out early so get your tickets now. The Fall Craft Fair is Nov. 3 and 4 from 9 am to 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse. Come out and start your holiday shopping with unique gifts and craft gifts made by your Sun Lakes neighbors. If you haven't experienced our beautiful golf courses why not give a golf event a try; Pass Putters is a putting group that gets together once a month and putts an 18-hole putting course on the championship putting green. Check the Association website or call the golf shop for dates and times. This event is for all golfers including beginners. If you are a new golfer or need to tune up your game, check in at the pro shop and find out about the monthly golf clinics our Golf Pro Brian is offering. If you want to get out on the course quickly, ask about the lesson package called "Get Golf Ready" which is designed to get you out on one of our beautiful golf courses after just a couple of lessons. Have you experienced the newly renovated Sandwedge Bar & Grill? Join fellow football fans for Monday Night Football, Sunday NFL Ticket, and Saturday College Football in addition to other events in the new Sandwedge Bar & Grill. Or just come in for breakfast in the Sandwedge; it's open for breakfast Tuesday through Friday from 8 to 11 am, Saturday 7 to 11 am and Sunday 8 to 11 am. Complete hours of operation and special menus are on the Association's website. Also, if your club or group is looking for a venue for an event, the Sandwedge Bar & Grill is available. Contact Thomas, the Food & Beverage Director, for availability. In the next couple weeks, you will be receiving a ballot package regarding a CC&R change that is called the "Reserve Replenishment Assessment." If you were unable to attend the Town Hall meeting discussing the CC&R change, please take a look at the informative video on the Sun Lakes website which can be found under community information/informational videos. The video is a short presentation featuring attorney Wayne Guralnick explaining the benefits the CC&R change will provide our community. We need a 75 percent vote of the membership to pass this initiative which would result in an over $400,000 annual addition to the Repair & Replacement Fund. The additional funding provided by this CC&R change will help maintain the monthly HOA dues at the lowest possible level. Projects the Master Board and Management are working on include resurfacing the South Clubhouse pool area. This project will be completed by the end of November. The pool will be closed during the resurfacing project. The Main Clubhouse pool and the North Clubhouse pool will remain heated during the closure of the South Clubhouse pool. Repairs of the main gate fountains were completed in September and they're looking great; work is set to begin on the gate 2 repairs. The Lounge expansion construction is scheduled to begin in January of 2024. During construction, the Sandwedge will be the primary venue for bar and food service. The Restaurant will remain open on a smaller scale and additional Restaurant services will be provided in the Ballroom when other banquet events are not occupying the room. We ask for your patience during the construction project. We believe the expanded Lounge will result in increased revenue and a positive experience for more members of our community to enjoy. As a reminder, Listening Sessions have transitioned to a new more casual format called "Coffee with the Board." This is a chance for members to have a friendly chat with a couple of Board members. Coffee with a Board Member will be held on the second Monday of the month at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Library. In addition, if you have a question or concern, please use Message to Management. There is a box at the reception desk in the Main Clubhouse and a link on the website for notifying Management. Recently at our quarterly Welcome Home Event, it was quite refreshing to hear all the positive comments. We even had some new residents step-up and volunteer for our community. This community could not function without the many outstanding volunteers in the District Delegate Assembly, the committees as well as the clubs and groups. So, if you are considering such, please step up and give back to our beautiful SLCC community by volunteering. "There are three types of people in this world. One type makes things happen, one watches things happen and one type asks what happened." ~ Casey Stengel ~ Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Lori Hazelton, Gary Burkel From the Master Board "We need a 75 percent vote of the membership to pass this initiative which would result in an over $400,000 annual addition to the Repair & Replacement Fund [and doesn't cost existing homeowners anything]. e additional funding … will help maintain the monthly HOA dues at the lowest possible level."
