Bartholomew church can be seen on the shoreline. e only way to reach this spot is by boat as there
are very steep cliffs on all sides.
My wife Mary Jane and I
recently traveled to a lovely place
called Berchtesgaden, which is in
Bavaria, Germany. It's about an
hour south of Munich, nestled
against the Bavarian/Austrian
Alps in the far southeast corner
of the country. Wonderful Solera
friends Michael and Ingrid Kurz
joined us. What made this extra
special is that Michael grew up
in Berchtesgaden and was our
tour guide. They split their time
between Germany and Solera
(they have family in So Cal).
In the week we were there,
we hit all the highlights.
Fortunately, an Indian summer
prevailed, so weather was
perfect. We took a boat across
beautiful Lake Konigsee, then
hiked back to see adjoining Lake
Obersee. We toured a working
salt mine deep underground and
sampled an interesting distilled
spirit called Enzian, which is
local to the area. ~ Dave James

there only a couple of times, as he was afraid of heights ironically. e house, now a restaurant, is located high up in the Bavarian Alps.
Above right: is is a photo looking up at Eagles Nest (look real close on the top of the mountain) to give you an idea of perspective.
