HIGH NOTES
FROM
KARAOKE
We recently heard the sad news that we lost two more of our
music favorites. On Sept. 1, we lost superstar Jimmy Buffett at the
age of 76. Jimmy Buffett was a unique party guy. He made the
song Margaritaville a fun frame of mind. Some of his best known
songs were Margaritaville, Come Monday, Volcano, Son Of A Son
Of A Sailor, Let's Get Drunk, It's Five O'Clock Somewhere with Alan
Jackson, and Cheeseburger In Paradise. His fans called themselves
Parrot Heads and Cheese Heads. His last words to his sister were,
"Have fun."
We also lost a lesser-known singer of the 1960s. Terry Kirkman
was the lead singer of the band e Association. Terry passed away
on Sept. 23 at the age of 83. e Association's best known songs
were Windy, Never My Love, Along Comes Mary, Cherish, Time For
Livin', Everything at Touches You, No Fair At All, Requiem For
e Masses, Six Man Band, and Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies.
I was lucky to have seen Terry in person at Doug Weston's
Troubadour Club in the early 1970s. Terry was an excellent
vocalist.
If you're a fan of Jimmy Buffett,e Association, or any other
kind of music, join Rosie Ingalls, Barb Miller & D.J. Blast Friday
Nov. 17 the Oakmont Room for a potluck at 5:30 pm followed by
Karaoke at 6 pm.
We will continue to keep a safe, disinfected microphone ready
for you. Hope to see you soon.
