FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2023 49 After completing our study of Acts in the New Testament, we are now studying First and Second Peter which rounds out our written opportunity to glimpse what amazing leaders the early church was blessed with as they established doctrine and converted many to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Peter, who Christ called the "Rock," was the leader at the church's beginnings, and was responsible for making sure that sound doctrine was being taught to the newest members. The Apostle Paul wrote 13 of the 27 books in the New Testament. These early church leaders encountered many trials, obstacles and barriers to their goals, yet they were endowed with many blessings to heal, perform miracles, as well as physical and spiritual strength to overcome any difficulty they experienced. We are so blessed to be able to read about all their accomplishments today, in 2023! As we end the year, on Dec. 15 we will have another sharing time with six ladies who have volunteered to share a memorable experience they had at Christmastime. This is followed by our annual Christmas party, complete with a potluck contributed by all of our amazing cooks, a gift exchange, a quiz (with prizes!), and other surprises. Please note that we will be dark Dec. 22 and 29 as we celebrate the Christmas holiday with family and friends. On Jan. 5, 2024, we will begin a new series, studying the Books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther in the Old Testament. This would be a good time for any of you beautiful Four Seasons women out there to come and join us. This is a non-denominational study, and any version of the Bible is acceptable. C'mon over to The Lodge Game Room any Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am and enjoy the company of all these remarkable women of God! Being resilient means being able to adapt to difficult situations. Think back on your adult life. We have all experienced difficult times that we never thought we could get through. Yet we do. Sometimes we get through them better than we thought and other times not as much. The loss of a loved one may be one of the most challenging events we have to get through. We need to grieve for our loved one and then very slowly we begin to accept this new life. We become resilient. It is not that we forget but rather come to an understanding that we cannot change what happened and so we press on doing the things we need to do. It may sound like it just happens one day but that is not the case. It is a roller-coaster ride, where some days are better than others. The holidays tax our resiliency. We want to celebrate with our loved one(s) who have passed and want to have what is now missing in our lives. We need to do what feels right for us and not necessarily what others want us to do. Celebrate with others if you want or have a quiet celebration. Take care of you. That will help with the healing process. The Life After Loss Group meets on the first and third Mondays of the month from 1 to 3 pm in RCN Room #3. We are a caring group of people who have also experienced loss.
