FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2023 61 The Beaumont Bagger Cornhole Group has had a fun-filled season. Thank you to all of our participants through the year. Our members are what make this game fun and different every week. We will be "off season" from Dec. 1 through April 1. Stay tuned to the Breeze for our start up in the spring. We are hoping to pick up right where we left off with rookies joining our loyal members. We welcome all participants and spectators. Hope to see you in the spring! ~ Pat Barry Beaumont Bagger Cornhole Group Fishing Club The trout fishing season starts in December; hopefully we will be doing a great deal of fishing this month. I thought I would write about a thing I call fishing luck. Here is a story that will explain what fishing luck is all about. A couple of years ago I went fishing with a friend and his two sons. We were fishing in a lake in the Coachella Valley and were trying to catch record catfish. I threw my line in the water and put my rod down to go and get a cold one from my ice chest. When I turned around I saw my rod and reel flying into the lake. A giant catfish pulled my rod and reel into the lake and it was long gone. My first thought was that I had missed catching a record fish. My next thought was that I was done fishing for the day. Taught me a lesson to always bring more than one rod and reel when I went fishing. My friend and his sons kept fishing and were having a fun time catching fish. About an hour later, Albert's son said he caught a big fish. I grabbed the net and waited for him to bring the fish onto shore. I could not believe my eyes. His son had brought in my rod and reel and I immediately started reeling in my record fish. Turned out the fish only weighed a couple of pounds, so I could no longer say I lost a monster fish. It was pure fishing luck that I got my rod and reel back. Tight lines to all my fishing friends. Remember it does take luck to catch fish. ~ Richard Carrasco, ricarrasco52@gmail.com Terry Miller with two huge fish he caught at Fisherman's Retreat in Redlands Thought I'd catch the last article for 2023 to give you a report on the results of our last tournament. We always have a two-day tournament: singles on one day and doubles on the second day. The winner of our singles tournament was Dave Thomason in first place. Ron Erickson took second. For our doubles tournament, Ron Erickson and Randy Kosacker placed first and Dave Thomason and John Hyland placed second. See photos above. So that kinda wraps things up for 2023; we've had a great year. Some new members came in and some old members moved away … and so it goes. We're always here and we play on Wednesday mornings at 8 am in the summer and 9 am in the winter at The Summit. Everyone is welcome to come out and join us next year. Your enjoyment is guaranteed.
