Everyone is welcome! Tai Chi By Jan Prytz, 951-600-4618 e weather was perfect, the games were exciting, the food was wonderful — what more could we ask for on a tournament day? Spectators and players alike had a great time at the November paddle tournament. anks goes to our hosts, Jeanie and Hal Accord, who made sure we were well fed at a beautiful fall table. WINNERS: Linda Kight took the most games in the women's division and Glenn Sailer won the most in the men's division. Congratulations to each of them — well played, Linda and Glenn! For those wishing to learn to play, call John Knitter, 951-805-2456, for tennis or Karen Nichols, 619-550-8194, for paddle tennis. Come on out to the courts and get your day started right. It's fun out there! Racquet Club By Karen Nichols, 619-550-8194 Paddle Tennis winners Linda Kight and Glenn Sailer I have been trying to find noteworthy/funny stuff about pickleball to make my article more interesting, but as I search not much comes up. Example, silly jokes like: "What is a woman called who stands close to the net?" Answer: "Annette." Oh, that's not that great — kind of cute, but really stretching it. ere had to be something better, so I kept looking and I found: • e oldest registered pickleball player is 94 years old, while the youngest one is only four years old. • Pickleballs travel at 1/3 the speed of tennis balls due to the holes. en a friend of mine, who is a very good pickleball player and who travels all over the world to play, told me she was playing in Budapest and the courts did not have lights. So, at night they play with a glow-in-the-dark pickleball! Well, that's it for this month. It looks like I need to do a lot more research for my next article — or my sense of humor needs to change! e tournaments we had this month were once again fantastic. It's so nice to have the cooler weather. e winners for this month's tournament: Gregg Ross, Karen Nichols and Chuck Gordon. Congratulations to all of you! Well done. A big thank you to all who helped our tournament come together so nicely. It is always such a fun morning, and we look forward to it every month. I hope some of you have had the chance to take Scott Ross up on his offer to teach the basics to you. His number is 310-213-3362. I hope we will see you on the courts soon.
