| LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2023 | 31
November's rebooted event, movie quote trivia, was a delightful
evening. We had to reschedule this event because tropical storm
Hilary decided to descend upon us in August, when the event was
originally planned. Everybody had a good time, and the event was
free! Folks noshed on Fritos nacho plates and one table walked
away with wine prizes for knowing their movie trivia. We have had
two free events for members this year. This is one way the Sippers
Advisory committee "gives back" membership dues. The other way
is that many events throughout the year are subsidized in part by
membership dues.
Our most well attended event is rapidly approaching – the Holiday/
Christmas dinner/dance. This event is always a way to spend a very
enjoyable evening. Sign up early for this event.
We have a fresh, new event coming in January. With the passing of
an iconic singer/songwriter a few months back, we decided to honor
his legacy and theme our January event around Jimmy Buffet. The
evening will feature his music and cheeseburgers are on the menu.
Along with that, we'll be serving margaritas to all attendees. We're
pretending they are a rare variety of wine (wink, wink). So, this is
a first call to get your tropical gear together and maybe we'll have
a parade of "parrotheads." Parrotheads are hard core Jimmy Buffet
fans, in case you don't know.
Wine fun fact: Hammurabi's Code, which dates back to 1800 B.C.,
had a law about wine. Fraudulent wine sellers were to be punished
by drowning in a river. Yikes!
Membership is required if you are a Solera resident.
