42 | LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2023 | Happy Holidays all! Al and I hope you are all staying healthy and safe and we want to wish all of you a very Happy Holiday this season. More than ever, I am committed to delivering fun and fellowship through my Card Art 101 sessions. November's Holiday Card Art Event was a sure success. We had so much fun putting holiday cards together, eating, and laughing. This was my largest class since I brought it here to teach. It was great to see some new faces. And, thank you all again for all the applause and appreciation. It brought tears to my eyes then, when I told Al about it, and even now. I'm so glad you loved all my creations. I've chosen a few of my favorite cards from that session to display here this month. My three-card class is always the third Friday of the month. Mark your calendars for Fri., Dec. 16. We meet in the Arts & Crafts Room at 1 pm. The cost is still only $10. As always, I will be designing, cutting and placing everything you need in your kits. I always have extra supplies on hand if you need to purchase glue or crafting tools. Please come and join in the fun. Those of you on my email list will be getting an email to confirm your attendance. If you wish to be added to the email notification list, please email me at scrappinvall@ yahoo.com or call or text my cell phone, (951) 231-3991. ~ Vallarie Clegg CARD ART 101 'Twas the week before Christmas and the house was a hush, Save the stamping of rubber in a last minute rush. e cardstock was cut with precision and care, In hopes that a greeting would soon be stamped there. e children were tucked in their beds around eight, But now it's 10:30 - How'd it get so late? And I in my PJs with bleary red eyes, Had finally arranged all the stampin supplies. It started out simple (it does every year), Just make a few cards for friends who are dear. Nothing too fancy-just an elegant touch, A gold embossed image, some ribbon and such. I pressed ink to paper (it looked crisp and clean), A sprinkle of powder then heat for a sheen. When what on my green Christmas cards should appear? Why a tiny gold Santa with sleigh and reindeer! But with little stray flecks and some missing spots, too, I knew in a moment this one wouldn't do. en I tried it again, once more and another, "I will get this right?" I said to no other. On pigment! Oh powder! On heat from a gun! Now ribbon! an envie! Can I make fiy-one? "I can do it!" I said with all my might, And looked at the clock-'twas well past midnight.
