| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2023 | 17 Team Sunshine wishes everyone a joyous and peaceful holiday season! Holiday gift giving is widespread in the month of December in America. We open our hearts and wallets to our loved ones at Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza; yet sometimes we receive gifts we may truly not want, need, or even care for. When we really look back at those gift-giving events, it's usually the memory of having spent time with others that we appreciated the most. "No one has ever become poor by giving." ~ Anne Frank Another way to give is philanthropically. Today philanthropy means generosity in giving gifts to help make life better for other people. We can practice philanthropy by making a monetary gift to a cause we believe in. "America's Best Local Charities" is a federation of more than 700 nonprofit charitable organizations that are helping children, the poor, the ill, the disabled, the elderly and many others in need in communities like Hemet. The ABLC website will have more information if you are interested. On the other hand, Charitywatch.org has a listing of the 'top rated charities' you may be interested in. This is a valuable resource for the media and general public. Charity Watch identifies with charities that already have a presence in an affected region and a history of helping people there. Currently with so much suffering worldwide, giving to an honest, worthwhile charity seems like a small, albeit positive step in building a stronger, more sustainable world. We have been notified of the passing of Jerry Smit. Team Sunshine has reached out to his family and will assist them in planning a celebration of life in April, 2024. In November, Sunshine assisted the Tiffin family with a lovely in-home celebration of life for Darrell. If you are interested in joining Team Sunshine, or perhaps you have a question or request, please contact either Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058. The dinner meeting and social interaction helps with rekindling old friendships as well as new. The WIT Team gathers once a month in the Ballroom for a dinner meeting. Dinner orders are called into the Bistro between 2 and 4 pm. When they gather at 5 pm, their orders are already being prepared and are ready for delivery to each attendee. We are a support group. This is your invitation to join us and be part of the WIT Team here in Four Seasons.
