36 | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2023 | Village Vets We had a great show in Abravanel Hall on Nov. 11 at 11 am for our annual Veterans Day Celebration. It was hosted by Donna Russell and the RBV High School Band was there too. We honored Vietnam era veteran's this year. Our guest speaker was Marine Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Eddie Utuk who was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. If you haven't made your reservation for our holiday party, the time is almost past. e plans for our Sat., Dec. 9 Village Vets holiday party have come together. We have a grand dinner planned in Abravanel Hall, catered by Flavor Chef. e five-piece Showdown Band will be entertaining for your listening and dancing pleasure. We will be inviting and sponsoring military personnel and guests again this year to be at each table. We hope to have our members help sponsor a military member dinner or two, and mark a donation amount on their check. Another way to wish a military member a happy holiday is with a holiday card and donations le at the clubhouse for the Village Vet folder. All checks should be made out to OHCC Village Vets, as we will distribute funding appropriately. We expect to have two Marine or Navy military guests in uniform at each table. In past years, the OHCC Vets holiday parties have been loved by our members as one of the highlights of the holiday season. Your checks for the party need to be in by Dec. 1 at the latest, at the Clubhouse front desk for the Village Vets Folder, $45 for Village Vet Club members and $50 for a non-member. Please indicate names of attendees on your check, and if you prefer beef, chicken or vegan meal for each meal and mark on the check "Vets Party." Dress for the occasion will be business casual, and doors will open at 5:30 pm, social hour to 6:15 pm, BYOB. Don't forget to join the Village Vets Club in 2024. We will be attending Do Dues Day on Sat., Jan. 13. You don't have to be a veteran, and we support many functions in OHCC as well as Camp Pendleton. Our annual dues are still $10 per person. Please note there will be no regularly scheduled Village Vets general meeting in December, but do remember that everyone is welcomed at our next general meeting on Jan. 25, 2024 in Abravenal Hall at 3 pm.
