With California's growing population and limited water supply,
we knew that it was eventually going to happen; and now we have
a deadline. Effective on January first, 2029, lawns will be outlawed
in California.
Certain lawns considered to be "functional", such as our golf
course, and lawns in a dog park will be allowed to remain. Our
job, for the next five years will be to facilitate the removal of "non-
functional" lawns in an orderly fashion, one area at a time. We are
hoping to qualify once again for rebates from the city, as we did a
couple of years ago, when we removed turf from outside the front
entrance. e city of Oceanside will only give us one rebate each
year.
We have been looking at some low-growing green succulents
which, when mature, have a look that is similar to our present
grasses, and can survive a certain amount of foot traffic. However,
no decision has yet been made as to replacements.
We are all fortunate to live here in our beautiful gated "paradise."
Be assured that your Landscape Committee is working hard to
maintain this unique environment .
