Pete grew up in Queens, NY where he received an engineering degree from City University of NY. He moved to California, earned his master's in electrical engineering from UCLA and began his career as a program manager for a company that designs missiles. Aer 28 years, his company wanted him to move to Tucson, but Pete didn't want to go. However, in 1994, the epicenter of the Northridge earthquake was just two miles from where Pete and his wife lived. Her comment while waiting for the shaking to stop was, "How fast can we get to Tucson?" Pete worked for 22 more years before retiring. Aer his wife's death, he decided he needed a change and started looking for a 55+ community in California. He is very happy to have found OHCC! Shortly aer he moved here, Pete saw a flyer about learning to swim from the Swim club. He was hesitant, saying, "I was a sinker, not a floater." But Frank Tanner gave him some expert instruction along with advice about equipment to help with the sinking issue. In addition to lap swimming, Pete enjoys bocce, golf and sailing. He attends a morning exercise class as well as the tai chi class. He also enjoys traveling and has been to 40 countries. Pete loves living here and told me several times, "e only way I'll leave OHCC is in a pine box! ~ Sara Stewart, Club VP | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2023 | 45 Swim & Wellness Club Pete Keilbach aer a refreshing swim Stay up-to-date with club information!
