| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2024 | 31 Golf Club From the President, Tom Moore: Before we bid a fond farewell to 2023, I have a few thoughts I'd like to share. I want to thank our Board members: Susan Gates, Vice President; Joe Richmond, Treasurer; Irene Becker, Secretary; Elliot Yaeger, Tournament Chair; Debbie Kosaka, Alternate Tournament Chair; Elliot Yaeger, Membership Chair; Bill Swinney, Rules Chair; Bernie Sebzda, Handicap Chair; Larry Becker, Course Liaison; and Meredith Becker, Social Chair. And most important, my thanks go out to you, the membership of the Hemet Four Seasons Golf Club for allowing us the honor of serving as your board, and for your support and suggestions over the past two years. Without your input, we couldn't do what we do! Finally, please give a warm welcome to your incoming Board for 2024: Mike Caldwell, President; Bob Morriss, Vice President; Linda Morriss, Treasurer; and Mike McLaughlin, Secretary. As of this printing, Mike hasn't announced his chair-persons, but I'm sure that he will put the best people in the right positions. anks again everyone! From the Social Chair, Meredith Becker: e Four Seasons Golf Social Committee will be ending or shall I say starting the New Season with a Paella Banquet Potluck on Sat., Jan. 13. Please mark your calendars. More details will follow! From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Model Local Rules A local rule is a modification of a rule or an additional rule that the club adopts for general play or a particular competition. A good example of a local rule in effect on our course here at Hemet Golf Club would be the greenside bunker on hole #15. Since there is no barrier or object preventing the ball from rolling into the no play zone (penalty area) from the bunker a local rule has been provided. Should a player hit their ball into the bunker and should it roll into the no play zone (penalty area) below the bunker, the player will take a free drop two club lengths to the side of the bunker and incur a one stroke penalty. From the Tournament Chair, Elliot Yaeger: e January 2024 schedule is as follows: Jan. 2, 8 am - Team: Best 2 Net Scores per Hole Jan. 9, 8 am - NEW: Match Play - pick your OPPONENT or be assigned… make your own bet! 8:30 am - Individual: Nine Hole Low Net Tournament Jan. 16, 8 am - Team: Player on the Spot Plus One Jan. 23, 8 am - Individual: Low Net with Qualifying Round for Presidents Cup (8 players) Jan. 30, 8 am - President's Cup: Match Play (ROUND 1), Others Play Low Net Holiday Golf Cart Parade: e parade was held on Sat., Dec. 9. is article was written on Dec. 4 so no aer-action report/pictures (next month). is picture is from last year's parade. I am sure it was a fantastic time. e quality of the decorations is always amazing. e pre- parade crowd that will come down to see the carts will also be treated to the tree lighting ceremony, a very holiday-like atmosphere. e Weakley's are scheduled to lead the parade through the community and provide a ride to Santa Clause (Fred Rau). anks Dave, Char, and Fred! As usual, Tracie Rodgers was an immense help, especially her blasts and postings. Debbie Frazier, and Donna McLaughlin staffed the Welcome Table and provided holiday goodies and libations. Donna McLaughlin also decorated e Lodge in a holiday motif with a big assist from Tim Gross, our handyman. Flag Angels: If you see the Flag Angel pin/hat, you should know that a Flag Angel is wearing it; be sure to thank them for their tireless work! I can always use additional volunteers to serve as backups when a Flag Angel cannot post their flags. If you would be willing to help, please call me at (951) 973-4149, or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com. ~ Mike McLaughlin Golf Cart Club American Sign Language e Hemet Four Seasons American Sign Language class celebrated one year of learning ASL in October at the Rocking K restaurant.
