I have always loved any water sport — swim team,
synchronized swimming, water skiing — and this
photo was from my last competition kayaking on

I was one of eight women pulling a 2,000 pound boat
with 25 lb. oars and a 250 lb coach yelling: stroke!
stroke! feather your oars! Oh sweet youth! These
boat races supported the Vallejo Maritime Academy
rowing team. It was grueling but exciting racing!
Practice time was overloading the boat to push our
strength and paid off on race day. I am pictured center
in the photo above (I'm in the white hat next to coach).
