I love to look at things close up and ponder on how the colors blend, and what makes the shadows and lights react differently. I also consider if I were to turn it into an art piece, how would I accomplish something I am ultimately happy with. Rob Kelman helps me and all of us see things in new ways, encourages us to try different techniques, and/or use new tools or old ones in new way. This picture of a mother elephant and her baby are example of this. I had recently returned from a trip to Africa and loved this picture of a mom and her young calf and the sweet relationship they appeared to have. I have been working with acrylics and decided I would like to try something new. Rob encouraged me to try white charcoal on black paper. This was my first attempt. I love the way the simplicity of black and white add power and contrast to an image. I learned I needed to reverse my normal way of drawing as well as looking at this image. I had fun. Come join us and I promise you'll learn and grow in your art journey." Classes are Mondays from 10 am to 12 pm and/or Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm. There is a nominal $5 fee per person, per session.
