Strummers By Judy Moore, 949-468-7375 e book for January is 84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff, and it is an entertaining and moving collection of letters sent by the author post WWII from her home in New York to the staff at an antiquarian bookshop in London. It is a true story written by the author and recounts her relationship with a bookseller at the bookshop. eir correspondence spanned 20 years and resulted in a valued friendship. e Book Readers will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 am in the Meeting Room. If you like to read ahead, our February book is e Senator's Wife by Liv Constantine. Book Readers Dorothy Watters On Jan. 23 at 1 pm in the Annex, Virginia Boos, a long-term member of the Temecula Valley Rose Society and now a Colony resident, will be giving a presentation on roses. Joining her will be May Olson and Lenore Vogel to talk about rose care and pruning and to answer your questions. If there is interest, they will have an actual pruning demonstration outdoors. ere will be a drawing for the booklet Healthy Roses published by the University of California Agricultural & Natural Resources. Some great reference information will be emailed aer the presentation to all who attend. If you are interested in roses, we hope you can join us. We have begun planning for our 3rd annual Colony Petal Pushers Garden Tour, which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 20. e success of the tour is having a variety of gardens to tour, and we hope you will consider including your garden for this event.
