10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2024 | Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all those involved in setting up and decorating all the district Christmas trees and purchasing and wrapping the gifts for the very successful annual Winter Wish program. We are grateful to the residents who make the purchasing of the gifts possible for the families and children in our Banning community. By the time you read this article the special election for The Replenishment Assessment will be completed and certified. This would be a good opportunity to explain the role the delegates play in our Sun Lakes election process. In the event a district does not achieve the quorum requirement (as mentioned in Article 3, section 6 of the governing documents) of over 50 percent of the residents, delegates shall cast all votes in accordance with the membership instruction from their district, except to the extent the delegates are permitted by the governing documents to exercise discretion. With that said, it is very important that our residents are aware of how important it is to participate in our elections. As previously reported in the November issue of the Lifestyles Magazine, Joe Formino resigned as the chair of the delegate assembly at our November delegate assembly meeting. Joe has made it known that he will always be available to consult with and remain an elder statesman to the delegate assembly. We wish Joe the best and hope he takes his own advice, "whatever you do, don't fall!" ~ Delores Daugherty DISTRICT DELEGATE ASSEMBLY REPORT New Year, New Beginnings Greetings Sun Lakes residents, As we look forward to the opportunities and challenges that await us in 2024, I want to share with you some of the organizations we have allocated funding to, so we can better serve you, our treasured seniors! In our first year in office, we have provided significant funding to the Family Services Association, Smiles for Seniors, and Cara-A-Van. Each of these organizations provide valuable services to seniors! Being able to support these organizations, in their quest to enhance the quality of life for our senior citizens, is one of the most rewarding and heartwarming facets of being your county supervisor. In the coming year, we will continue rolling out our Hire District 5 programs. There will be Hire District 5, Hire a Senior, and Hire a Vet. We will also be hosting several forums and health and safety fairs, specifically focusing on services to seniors. I wish you all a healthy and prosperous new year! ~ Yxstian Gutierrez County Supervisor
