e Yiddish Culture Club wishes everyone a Happy New Year! We will have a Gala Installation Dinner to kick off 2024 Please join the YCC for the pinnacle event of the year – YCC's Annual Installation Dinner – on Wed., Jan. 10, at 6 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We will start the evening with the Installation Ceremony where our 2024 Board Members will be inducted. There have been no changes to the Board and all members have agreed to carry out their duties for 2024. We are pleased to introduce the board as: Ellie Fixman – President; Joan Swem - VP Communications; Marilyn Forhane - VP Membership; Marsha Rudak – VP Programs; Sara Friedman – VP Hospitality; Maryanne Kirschbaum – Treasury; Pat Naylor – Sunshine; Joan Blumenfeld – Telephone Committee; Mary Chepovsky – Member at Large. Following the ceremony, a scrumptious dinner will be served by the Sun Lakes Catering and Restaurant staff. You can choose one entree from the following: Braised boneless short ribs with a red wine reduction demi glaze, grilled salmon topped by a chile mango sauce or chicken marsala. All dinners include rolls with butter, salad, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, baby glazed carrots, and cake for dessert. A beverage station is included serving iced tea, coffee, and water. Of course, you may bring your own wine; a $7.50 corkage fee applies. The Lounge will also be open for cocktail purchases. The dinner will be $25 pp for members (subsidized by the YCC) and $35 pp guests. We will have a strict cutoff for payment on Wed., Jan. 3 at 12 noon to allow the Sun Lakes Restaurant to prepare this wonderful dinner with enough notice. Please deliver your checks made out the YCC, to the home of Ellie Fixman, 5081 Rio Bravo by the Jan. 3 cutoff. Reservation flyers are in the racks behind the reception desk at the Main Clubhouse. The entertainment for our special event will be the trio So Rare from Hemet. We will dance the night away to their classic oldies, dance music extraordinaire, 50-60s ballads, and Doo Wop interludes. So Rare was such a hit for our club last summer that they were unanimously chosen to perform again. Will we ever forget how Barry Eisen the "macher" of the group broke out singing the Jewish folk song Hava Nagila? It even encouraged our 99-year old member on oxygen to get up and dance to this traditional song usually played at celebrations. We are looking forward to celebrating this wonderful evening with you. Marilyn Forhane can be reached at (951) 845-9455 (mfor18@ gmail.com) for membership or any changes to your contact information. Call Marsha Rudak at (262) 308-0784 (marsharudak@ hotmail.com) if you have any program ideas or want to borrow one of the DVDs from the YCC Library. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2024 |43 Yiddish Culture Club The Yiddish Culture Club welcomes all residents of any denomination Many came out to enjoy the menorah-lighting event in December
