18 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JANUARY 2024 SDV Community Groups - Solera Singles By Kathy Caraher, Resident There are numerous Groups, Clubs, and Committees to join at Solera Diamond Valley. Choosing just one can be difficult! But if you are single and you would like to meet new people in a fun, social setting with regularly scheduled events, our 'Solos' Group is a great place to start. There are currently over 100 ladies and men on our roster and there are numerous opportunities to meet others that you would enjoy doing things with. Any one event will range in the number of attendees. We usually have a meeting every three months to plan things to do over the following quarter. Input from the group is appreciated and our creative group usually has many great ideas. At our meetings we discuss restaurants and other places to go to together. Our focus is our First Sunday Dinners. Unless a holiday is involved, every month on the first Sunday we go to dinner. One person volunteers to be the 'host' to coordinate with the planned restaurant regarding seating. That person is also the contact person if you are interested in going, by using email or calls. Anyone willing to drive several people to the restaurant is appreciated! A time will be set to meet at the front of The Lodge for carpooling. Some drive directly to the restaurant. We usually plan to be at the restaurant about 5 pm. Most dinners are attended by 10-25 people. Each quarterly meeting is an opportunity to suggest some places you might want to visit. We have had pool parties, ice cream parties, game parties, and outings such as miniature golf, visits to lavender fields, wineries, Palm Springs gardens, delis, and zoos. As a member of the Communications Advisory Committee (e View Magazine), I am planning to write about different Clubs and Groups to give others more in-depth information about joining. If you are part of a Group or Club and would like to write about it, please contact me at kac819@hotmail.com. This could be you! Each second and fourth Monday of the month the SDV Lodge is alive with players and winners of bingo. After seeing this picture of a happy resident raking in the dough there may not be a seat left in the room. (Just kidding, we'll make room.) Doors open at 5:15 pm and play begins at 6 pm. Come early enough to get your cards and start winning. You must be over 18 years of age to participate and you can bring a friend from outside our community but they must be your visitor and your responsibility if they get frenzied. Just saying! It looks like a wild bunch. Bingo! Bingo! Submitted by Mary McKernan, Resident I'm pleased that residents are communicating more frequently through the Community Blast Page on our website. I realize the terminology of the words "Alert message" seems drastic, but it's here to stay as a website creation. Please do note that the page states "Alert message use for alerting other residents about emergencies, public service announcements, etc." It's great when a resident can pick up an unused ticket for an event, that groups and clubs can announce invitations to participate, or we hear of mailbox theft. But, when it comes to selling personal items, please be aware there is a place just one click up from the Community Communication area that is more appropriate and could even provide a photo of your item. Start checking out the Resident Classifieds. The main folder is labeled "Residents." It's where you go to find a phone number or email address of a resident in Residents Directory. It's also fun to scroll through Resident Pets. But, you'll also notice Resident Classified. Follow the simple instructions to have the item included on the website. You can attach a photo and brief description. Steve Justice's two-burner stainless steel portable bbq was submitted and 20 minutes later it was online for sale. Try it. It may eliminate some of the bulk of "Alert messages" we receive per day. Items For Sale On SDV Website
