14 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2024 | Dance can effectively promote good health by improving cardiovascular fitness, strengthening muscles, increasing circulation, decreasing blood pressure, lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, reducing stress, and many other positive benefits. Dancing will keep your mind active! That's why we do it. Although some of our songs are country western – most are not. Along with western music, we dance to artists such as Michael Bublé, Rod Stewart, Jim Croce, Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello with songs like Blame it on the Bossa Nova, Caught in the Moonlight, Cake by the Ocean. Regular Line dance class schedule: Beginner (1): Tues., 10:30 – 11:30 am, $5 Improver (2): Mon., 12:30 – 2 pm, $7 Intermediate (3): Tues., 12 – 1:30 pm, $10 Want to try it out? Come on by. You do not have to be a Line Dance Club member; however, you will be expected to pay for the class, which pays the instructor. After a trial, you will need to join the club. New for 2024? Dues have been reduced to $5/year. If you are interested in participating in our activities and are not sure who to reach out to for further information, please call Sunny Griffin (970) 708-0443. Just go online to download a membership form, complete it, include a check for $10 and drop off at the Clubhouse front desk! Hope to see you on the dance floor this year! ~ Written by Sue Silva, Director of Club Events Doo Wop & Disco Dance Village Squares Village Squares started in 1985, just after Ocean Hills Country Club began. We have kept the club going ever since, delighting thousands of people over the years with our brand of modern square dance, friendship, lots of good music, excellent callers, and providing a warm, friendly environment in which to make new friends while keeping our minds and bodies active and alert by participating in the fun of dancing. We passed out flyers in January, held an open house Jan. 24, and initiated a new group of dancers into the joys of moving to music and enjoying the company of fellow dancers. New dancers are carefully guided through the various moves, a few at a time, and are actually dancing within just a few weeks. There is still time to try it. Just come on out to Abravanel Hall Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm and see what we are all about. You'll be glad you did! ~ Written by Valerie ompson
