January is behind us but the commotion still continues at the Clubhouse Front Desk. Do Dues Day activities got us all in the mood for 2024. We are now ready to celebrate the 40th Anniversary year of Ocean Hills Country Club. The community was dedicated on May 5, 1984. There are extensive plans coming together for all residents to participate in this special occasion. The 40th Anniversary Committee is working diligently on the Anniversary Book. The photo sessions for the Book are underway, the committee is contacting exhibitors and lecturers for the "May Senior Expo." Clubs will be promoting their own events in the months ahead. With the Lanai under construction, the anticipated completion will be the icing on the Anniversary cake, as we all are excited to use this outdoor venue for the summer months. Annual Golf Bag Tags are available at no charge. Shortly, we hope to announce the arrival of the 2024 Phone Directory. Club memberships continue with dropping a check off (yes, we said check) at the Front Desk and filling out the paperwork required for individual clubs. The Bulletin Board ads can be submitted for items for sale, wanted, for lease, and estate sales. If permission is given, the ads can go up on the website. The Lost and Found is located here, so check in with us. Sunglasses, cell phones, keys, and clothing seem to pile up. We will certainly do our best to find the rightful owners. Golf Clubs, canes, keys, etc., if labeled, can be identified by applying an address label. The Community Services Committee is sponsoring a guest speaker, Susan Miller. She is an author of the book My Life Rearranged, musings of a caregiver dealing with Alzheimer's. Her book is available online. Susan visited a few years back and the Mykonos Room was filled to capacity. Seating is limited. Please plan on attending Fri., March 29 at 10 am. Q&A to follow with refreshments. The Recreation Department is bringing their "Diamond & Divas" Tribute Show to Abravanel Hall on Sun., March 3. Tickets are on sale now for $55 to include the dinner and the show. Cabaret seating to allow six attendees at each table. It is a BYOB affair; this does not mean to "bring your own bongos." This is always a fun, informal, and an engaging night for all in attendance. We are currently putting together our "Spring Fling," aka Spring Eggstravaganza for children. The event is usually held on the Golf Course and Lanai. This will be held Sat., March 30. With the Lanai construction in process, accommodations are being made to have it in the Overflow Parking Lot. The contract is in negotiation and the details will be publicized, just as soon as the details are firmed up. This is a save-the-date reminder. If anyone is new to this community, it's overwhelming to grasp the magnitude of activities. The racks in the Clubhouse are made available to all who stop in. The OHCC Living Magazine is delivered to all the residences around the 1st of each month. The Village Voice is delivered on the 15th of each month. The website www. oceanhillscountyclub.com has a wealth of information and a rolling calendar that any registered resident can access. We encourage everyone ask a staff member, attend a Board Meeting, and RSVP when invited to a new resident orientation. It's a brand-new year, so start the year off right and stay informed. See you in the Clubhouse! "Life is like riding a bicycle.
