| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2024 | 31 Hello fellow Papercrafters and those who enjoy our creations on display! We are happy to welcome back our senior papercrafting, dues-paying members for 2024. And a special welcome to our newest members who joined on Do Dues Day! You are our newest Group 5 members. You are our newbies for the next year. You will be meeting weekly, and your mentors are a couple of our club's most gifted members. They'll be taking you under their wing, teaching you something new every week. You will be amazed at what you will learn over the next few months. We're so glad you made the decision to join our club. You'll be learning techniques that will serve you for years to come: making cards, gift tags, scrapbook pages, gift boxes, stenciled décor, frameable art pieces, and so much more. Let your creativity shine. At your first orientation meeting you'll be given the basic information for what supplies you'll need to have in your basic Papercrafting work box. At your first instruction class, you'll learn some simple techniques and do a simple card. Please frame this first work of art. I wish I'd saved my first card so I could frame it and get to look back at where I started and enjoy how far I've come. We're all excited to continue our crafting journey into 2024. For all of you not in the club, be sure and stop by the art room on Wednesdays and Fridays to see what our various cardmaking groups are working on. Some of our members also sell their cards at local fairs and right here at OHCC during our Arts and Crafts Fair in the Hall. Each month of the year, there's always a theme behind the cards we're making. This month we have Valentine's Day to inspire us, and I can't wait to see what our groups come up with for this love- filled holiday. Speaking of love-filled, our love and best wishes go out to our members celebrating birthdays during this second month of the year. We hope you'll have a day filled with presents, fun and cake, surrounded by those closest to you. Happy Purple Amethyst Birthday to: Rhonda Anchales, Jim Gularte, and Irma Ojeda. In addition to the birthday, thank you, get well, and congratulations cards you can make each month, look to the monthly holiday calendars for more reasons to make cards to delight your friends and family.
