| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2024 | 35 Can you believe 2024 is here? Have you renewed your RV Club membership? Still time to do so and you can fill out a new form online and leave it at the front desk with your $10 membership fee. Now you say you don't own an RV, well you can join in on all the exciting travel, fun and friendships by becoming a WOW (With Out Wheels). You can experience the same adventures, often times lodging at the same RV resorts or beautiful hotel accommodations nearby. Think about it! December brought many of our club members to the 31st Festival of Lights at the historic Riverside Mission Inn. This event is one of the nation's largest holiday light collections and is a spectacular viewing. We camped at the Rancho Jurupa RV Park while our WOW's stayed at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. Our many thanks go out to our great Wagon Masters, Ron & Meddy Carso, Nancy & Jerry Gayvert and Roger & Jo Marr. Monday night started with a tasty potluck around the campsite and the start of a scavenger hunt. Tuesday was lunch at nearby Tios' Tacos, where the eclectic assortment of decorations was beyond description. You've never seen anything like it. The week included a round of golf at the Fairmount Golf Course and wine tasting at the Galleano Winery and of course the highlight of the trip, The Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn, which included a visual tour of the fascinating history surrounding the Inn. The evening was topped off with a stroll through and around the Inn to experience the fantastic light display. The Christmas lights were simply stunning, making Las Vegas seem dim. Next was crafting by crafty Karin Barnes who helped turn toilet and paper towel rolls into magical Christmas ornaments. We also attended a private dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory, the once site of the Riverside Train Station. Great food and camaraderie with Bob Becker, praising those who had cleaned their plates. All things must come to an end and so did our trip. We enjoyed a campsite continental breakfast and the conclusion of the scavenger hunt, then back to the grueling reality of living in Ocean Hills, where life is tough, but we all try to persevere. Our next membership meeting will be on Tues., March 19 followed by our trip to Borrego Springs from March 24 through the 29. ~ Written by Marshall Kelsay RV Club Ask about our OHCC discount!
