FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2024 5 Message From The Board Committees are an integral part of any governing body, and our Committees at Four Seasons are no different. They work with the Board of Directors (BOD) to ensure everything runs smoothly. Without our volunteers giving their time to ensure our community remains one of the most desirable communities in the area, we would need to hire many more FirstService employees to accomplish all our committee volunteers do. Many of you have noticed the trees that were removed in the past month. This is part of a three-year plan to remove the many trees that are either causing damage or have the potential to cause damage. The Landscape Committee works with the Park West arborist to identify which trees require removal. The original list of trees was approximately 450 trees, and we are on track to complete this task by 2025. Each year, the Landscape Committee re-evaluates and either adds to or removes items on the list. The Landscape Committee walks a different section of Four Seasons every Friday morning, which allows them to see the entire community and plan for any renovations or improvements. Unlike the Landscape Committee, the Facilities Committee works on everything that is not green and growing. For example, they review capital or reserve items such as carpeting, pool decks, and tables and chairs to name a few, and in the past year replaced items such as the canopies at The Lodge pool. They not only work on repairing/replacing existing items, but also work on new ideas. A few examples are shade cover installed at The Courts pool, stained concrete in front of The Lodge, and moving the shuffleboard courts to an area not impacted by trees. The Community Planning Committee (CPC) looks to the future to see what changes our community may face. Some ideas they work on impact the near future and some may be 10 to 20 years down the road. One of the items for the future is a possible Ballroom expansion. A primary goal of CPC is how we can best utilize the space for maximum use. This past year, CPC was instrumental in completing the Four Seasons Strategic Plan that was mailed along with the 2024 Budget. The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) is the committee that ensures any modifications or changes made to individual properties stay in compliance with our CC&Rs and Guidelines. ARC meets twice monthly with residents and/or residents' contractors to review applications and provide any information needed to assist in a smooth approval. The Safety/Emergency Preparedness Committee works to provide the safe environment we live in as well as providing information on what to do in an emergency. Did you know everyone should have a "Go Bag" packed and ready to go in an emergency? The Safety Committee has worked in the past to establish stop signs around Four Seasons Circle and continues to look for more ways to ensure we all have a safe place to call home. Our Breeze magazine is published every month with the diligent work of our Communications Committee. The amount of work that goes into our magazine is enormous and truly takes several days of editing/proofing every article submission, in addition to working with the publisher on article placement. The Communications Committee discusses different topics for future editions that will showcase our very own residents. I, for one, have learned so much about our Four Seasons' neighbors from talent and skills learned during our careers and hobbies, to the fantastic vacation pictures from around the world. The Communications Committee makes publishing look so easy! One of the reasons we all moved here is the beauty that surrounds us. Even though the conservancy area does not belong to us, our Conservancy Committee walks it often and reports any issues that may eventually cause problems, such as overgrowth or overwatering. As a side note, the builder, K. Hovnanian, pays the water bill for the conservancy. The Social Committee works tirelessly to provide entertainment for our residents. Looking at the calendar for this year, there is something going on nearly every month: an annual fashion show, magicians, music concerts, and impersonators who will make you believe you are seeing the real thing. One of the highlights every year is the New Year's Eve party, and it is spectacular! Last, but not least, our Finance Committee works with the BOD to produce a budget for the following year. This work allows all of us to enjoy the dedicated work performed by the Committees listed above, and provides the funds needed to keep Four Seasons such a beautiful place to live. All of our committee members are passionate about their work and dedicated to enhancing the lives of our Four Seasons' residents. If any of the work our Committees perform sounds interesting to you, or if you would like to provide your expertise and knowledge, please attend any of the meetings as a guest to see how you can become a member. The BOD would like to thank all committee members who work so hard and gave of themselves in 2023 and look forward to another year of great contributions. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month at 1 pm in the Ballroom and we encourage everyone to attend. Per civil code, the Board cannot engage in conversation with any homeowner input. If you prefer a less formal setting, Meet with the Board is a more intimate setting where the Board can engage in conversation with you on almost anything you wish to discuss (exceptions include any issues currently under litigation). Meet with the Board meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Ballroom at 2 pm. If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at kathycravenbod@yahoo.com or at (714) 722-1301. Have a great month and be kind to one another. By Kathy Craven, Board Vice-President
