FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2024 65 Ladies Putters The Ladies Putter Group celebrated the holidays with a party and awards presentation. They took December off for play and resumed Jan 8. As always, we'd love to see more gals come out and join us. It's a low-impact, "high fun and social" activity, and the best part is no experience is necessary. We have extra putters and balls if you'd like to come out and give it a try. Our 9-hole putting green is located at The Courts, behind the pool area. I am inviting more folks to come out and play Bid Whist. We have paper flyers available at The Lodge, and our electronic flyer can now be viewed on the E-Boards in all the facilities and online in the Activities Blast. We have an enjoyable time socializing while applying our individual team strategies to win the hand or stop the opposing team from winning. You can almost hear the excited voices of the victors around the tables, as well as the sounds of the Temptations or Herbie Hancock or Aretha Franklin or BB King or Adele — a variety of mellow music — in the background while we play. I strongly encourage new players to come out. We will teach you how to play this game. Bid Whist is a variation of the original game of Whist and it involves strategy, card counting and careful communication with a partner. It is similar in play to Bridge and Spades. Whether you are new to the game or a veteran player, I invite you to come out and play with us! The Co-Ed Bid Whist group meets on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 pm in RCN, Room 3. We offer a satisfying game environment filled with skill, good cheer, good-natured trash talking, and some great music. Win or lose … you will have a lot of fun and meet some great folks while playing Bid Whist. We look forward to seeing you at the tables. We are now playing Mah Jongg in the RCN Main Room every Friday morning from 10 am to noon. I hope you can join us. The great part is that you do not have to commit to every Friday. If you are interested in learning this game, we arrange periodic lessons and have a table designated for new players. Bridge is for smart people and smart people are scientifically proven to be the most attractive people on earth. Who did the study? Smart people. Next month we'll discuss how Duplicate Bridge players are luckier than regular shlubs. In spite of being smarter, we're off to a poor start for 2024. I had planned to host a Duplicate Bridge session on Jan. 13, but the Club, Group, and Committee Expo on the same date preempted the plan. We will hopefully have better luck in February. The plan is to have a session of Duplicate Bridge on the second Saturday of the month, provided there is sufficient interest.
