66 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2024 We are recognizing two winners for December – Vernon Bell and Reggie Fuqua. Once again, Vernon Bell has emerged as the monthly champion. Vernon won the most games in December. He is a master player and he is tough to beat. Still, we look forward to next month to see who captures the championship. It is definitely on! Second, Reggie won as the "runner up" champion in a well deserved victory over three other elite players at the final match for December. Reggie is an excellent player as well. Congratulations to both Vernon Bell and Reggie Fuqua, Dominoes champion and runner-up champion for December! We ended the year with a festive and satisfying party. Special thanks to Phyllis Zakian, Yaya Comas, and Roxanne Williams for the food and ambiance, and to Frank Turner for the great music. Fun was had by all who attended. The Dominoes Club plays every Wednesday and Friday from 6 until 9 pm in the Game Room. We welcome more players, whether new to the game or experienced, to come out and join us for an enjoyable time "slamming bones." Novice players are encouraged to come out from 5 to 6 pm, on Wednesday and Friday, to learn the game. I am happy to teach anyone who wishes to learn to play Pan, either individually or in a small group — your home or mine. Pan is a card game, much on the order of Gin in some respects, that is played with up to eight people at a table. It is played by both men and women, so all are welcome. The game is played during the day or in the evening in The Lodge or at a private home. As with all card games, it is played with both skill and luck. ~ Linda Mendelson Pan Phase 10 We hope to see more fun-loving card players join us in The Lodge Game Room on Tuesdays, Feb. 13 and 27 from 2 to 4 pm. There have been the usual 'faithfuls' but we would love to see more join us to play this fun game. Snacks are provided but bring your own beverage. The goal is to complete the 10 phases that are established for the game, one round at a time. These phases include 'sets' of cards (all the same number) and 'runs' (cards in a sequence). There are also Wild cards and Skip cards during play. I should be back playing again. I have missed you all and the fun of winning or (ha) usually losing! We sure miss seeing friends and making new ones while playing this fun, fast-paced game. We play in the Game Room at The Lodge on Mondays from 2 to 4 pm. We welcome pros and newcomers alike and are always happy to teach the game to anyone who is interested. So come out and meet your neighbors and have a great time.
