FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2024 27 Winter rains in early January made it necessary to close the Corral for several days at a time. When the decomposed granite gets wet and is walked on, it forms hard ruts in the surface that once dry are impossible to remove without being scraped by a tractor. This is quite an expensive job. In checking with local Veterinarians, they report not seeing any cases of the dog flu-like illness that we hear about on the news. They do advise to keep your pet away from large groups of dogs and to be careful to use professional groomers that you trust. We are very fortunate to have our own facility where our dogs can play with other dogs whose immunizations are current and the dogs are not known to be aggressive. If you would love to see your dog running free and playing with other dogs, consider joining the Canine Corral. The cost for the first year is $40; after that it is $30 per year. You can use the Corral as often as you like. You can set play dates for your pet that fit your schedule. One scheduled day is Sunday mornings at 9 am. And yes, our dogs make dog friends and are very happy to see each other. You can pick up an application in The Lodge. You will be amazed at how happy it makes your dog to run and play without a leash. We are looking for new members to serve on the Canine Corral Committee. We meet once a month on the first Thursday for only one hour. We review new applications to make sure they are complete. Our main job is to make sure our pets have a safe and healthy environment to run off-leash. The workload is extremely light and shared by everyone on the committee. Give me a call if you are interested or stop by our next meeting on Feb. 1 at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. We are a friendly group without conflict. ~ Martha Franck, Co-Chair, (714) 345-8588, marthafranck@ icloud.com Canine Corral Finance Committee During the Finance Committee's regular monthly meeting, the financial statements for November 2023 were reviewed and recommended for Board approval. In addition, the Committee reviewed expenditure proposals, and reviewed investment recommendations to move maturing investments to higher yield FDIC insured instruments. Highlights of the November financial statements are: total cash is $12,552,267 including operating cash of $2,067,990 (checking and CDs) and reserve assets of $10,484,277. Our total year-to-date income is $133,114. We currently do not have a full roster of committee members. We are looking for anyone who would like to donate their time to our committee and the community. Homeowners are welcome to join us at the Finance Committee's regularly scheduled monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 1 pm. The Finance Committee reviews and discusses many issues that you may have questions about, and we welcome those questions. I would encourage all residents to become more familiar with the finances of our fantastic community. We would love to hear about your concerns and encourage you to share them with us. Attending a meeting only takes a little time and will give you a better understanding of how we operate. Come and join us in making this a thriving vibrant community. Our meetings are held in the RCN Conference Room. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jolene Cooley joleneaudit@gmail.com. ~ Jolene Cooley Toby and Sadie waiting for a treat in the Corral
