It's February, and it's time to unveil the fantastic folks who keep our club spinning like a finely tuned top – our esteemed Pickleball Steering Committee members for 2024: 1. Jesse Aceves - Chairperson 2. Nancy Barnaby - Co-Chair 3. Jim Allard - Co-Chair 4. Irma Peterson - Secretary 5. Maggie Domico - Treasurer 6. Kelly Vucinic - Tournament Director 7. Nancy Hessin - Player Instructor 8. Gayle Wardenski - Communications 9. Julie McGrath - Purchasing Agent (she handles paddle bands and all FS Pickleball outerwear like hats and shirts) A huge shout out to these wonderful people for their dedication to our addictively fun club. They're the reason behind our exciting events, tournaments, and even the simple joy of having balls to play with! Talking about fun, our club hosted a holiday party in December – it was an absolute blast! We indulged in barbecue, grooved to great music, had some "pretty good" dancing, and enjoyed amazing raffle prizes thanks to Karen "Rosie" Rose. Kudos to Rebecca and Bob Mendenhall for the festive balloons. Jim Allard filled in for Jesse as the MC, and rumor has it, he knocked it outta the park. Except for one table mysteriously winning 90 percent of the raffle prizes, the party was a perfect evening! Our in-house tournament in January was a hit. Stay tuned for the results next month. Lastly, a big shout out to our growing club and the incredible improvement in play at all levels. If you're thinking of playing but haven't come out yet, don't hesitate – it won't take long to fall in love with the sport. Hopefully we'll be able to play some bocce ball and weather won't be so wet this year. We play at The Summit on Tuesday and Friday at 9 am. Everyone is welcome. New players are introduced quickly to the rules and best strategies. It is an easy game where everyone can play, requiring no specific skill or previous experience. Playing is a lot of fun, win or lose, with a group of wonderful people. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us.
