| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2024 | 15 Sun Lakes Committee Reports The momentum is building as we await the much-needed renovation of our Restaurant and Lounge. Be assured that even though we may have to use some of our other rooms, this mini disruption will be well worth the effort and time. Every endeavor is being made by staff and management to make this transition as seamless as possible for us all. Fear not, all clubs and groups of 25 persons or more will be accommodated. Renovation is a good thing including our special "Renovation Menu." On Fri., Feb. 2, celebrate National Wear Red Day. Put on something red, visit the Lounge, and enjoy a red cocktail. This is also Groundhog Day. Anyone who saw the movie Groundhog Day knows that the Mule Buck (sweet vermouth on the rocks with a twist) was the weatherman's drink of choice. Try it. So many big events this month. On Sun., Feb. 11 we'll watch the Super Bowl. Enjoy beer, fun and camaraderie, and some trivia too. There's plenty of room and if we overflow the Sandwedge, fear not, we have a big screen in the Restaurant. Doors open at 2:30 pm, game starts at 3:30 pm. Feb. 14 is Valentine's Day and all I can say is WOW! Chef Chris has really created a spectacular experience that includes appetizers of Oysters Rockefeller, jumbo shrimp cocktail, or Italian Bruschetta, sumptuous lobster bisque, crisp wedge salad, or burrata; choice of six entrées: a 5 oz. tenderloin of beef with scallops and shrimp, Crispy duck a l'orange, lollipop lamb chops, chicken Marsala, vegetarian ravioli, cupids seared grouper and a glass of Champagne. The grand finale to a truly incredible evening will be a choice of cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, crème brûlée and, for the ladies, a rose and a chocolate covered strawberry. Reservations required: (951) 769 6654. Feb. 13 is Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras — come enjoy the signature hurricane cocktail. We've received many compliments on the new Sandwedge Bar & Grill. If you haven't visited, put it on your to-do list; you won't be disappointed. As a final note, please know that none of our food is ever microwaved … everything is prepared fresh. In addition, Chef Chris is very conscientious with where our foods are sourced. He can prepare gluten-free and celiac-conscious dishes. This is your Restaurant; every effort is being made to try and accommodate your needs. Whether you want tea or coffee in the morning or afternoon with a muffin or dessert, just ask. If it's in our kitchen, you may order it. Until next month, always surround yourself with positivity, love, laughter, good friends, and family and enjoy peace in your heart. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Lifestyles Magazine is the resource most residents turn to in order to find out what's going on in our community. At 80 pages, it includes pictures from residents plus articles from the Master Board, Delegate Assembly, FirstService, the Restaurant, the golf pro, and advisory committees. Clubs and groups send articles and photos about their activities to Sunlakesnews@yahoo.com by the sixth of each month. The Lifestyles Advisory Committee meets on the seventh of each month, unless otherwise specified, to review and edit the articles submitted for each month's issue of the magazine. We meet with a Master Board liaison, Assistant General Manager Jason Ewals, and the Recreation Director to be updated about events coming up in our community. We also publish want ads and for sale items from residents at no cost and hide a monthly joke for residents to find. Responses to our "Get the Joke" contest are put in a hat and a winner is randomly drawn, earning a Restaurant gift card as a prize. Photographs taken by residents of areas within Sun Lakes are used on the magazine cover. If you're good at proofreading and are interested in joining us, please fill out a volunteer application form that you can get in the Main Clubhouse Lobby. Lifestyles Advisory
