Starting a library book club with authors as guest speakers has been suggested as there are no formal book clubs in Sun Lakes. If you have any suggestions for books and authors, please contact Peter Fernandez at pxfvet@yahoo.com or John Hasha at hashajohn@gmail. com. Come and browse our four libraries. The libraries are self-serve with no checkout procedures and no due dates. Return the books to the appropriate library when you finish reading them. The South Clubhouse has new books added to the collection, which include mystery, romance, westerns, and puzzles. The North Clubhouse has nonfiction, romance, mystery, general fiction, westerns, and puzzles. The Main Clubhouse has hardbacks in the fireplace lounge with romance, general fiction, and mystery. The paperback room has romance, general fiction, mystery, and westerns. Come and browse our collection because there is nothing as relaxing as reading a good book. Library Advisory | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2024 | 17 Sun Lakes Committee Reports Marketing Advisory 12 Ways to Make the Most of Sun Lakes Life in 2024: 1. Join a Club – Groucho Marx refused membership in any club that would accept him as a member and missed the miracle of human interaction. Nothing beats hanging out with kindred spirits doing fun stuff. Sun Lakes clubs match every imaginable affinity. Enjoy wine? The Wine Club won't cut you off unless you request a Heineken. 2. Visit the Restaurant, Sandwedge, and Lounge often – We know a couple who work weekdays, but drive their golf cart over to the Sandwedge Friday and weekends to avoid cooking at home. They say, "We love to celebrate moving to Sun Lakes. Drinks and food are yummy and reasonably priced…and our new friends are awesome." 3. Volunteer - Organizations and committees need your time and talent. Yes, YOU ARE talented, people WILL LIKE you, and your help would be appreciated and admired. It's a deeply satisfying excuse to socialize. 4. Try a New Sport – Take time for golf, pickleball, bocce, or tennis, or something less strenuous like ping pong or billiards. Do this before you break in that easy chair so well you can't get up and out of it. 5. Discover Our Workout Centers – Want to get (or stay) in shape? Visit a workout center at any clubhouse. The free weights and machines aren't that busy, and you won't be bothered by people with bodies like the one you sported a few years back. 6. Attend Music Events – Spectacular live bands rock out at Sun Lakes before making their big break. Go back to those lazy, hazy days of summer when your head was on someone's shoulder. There are always a few line dancing tunes for you cowgirls and cowboys. 7. Experience the Best Sunday Brunch – You can't find a better one within 50 miles. When you feel like binging on your favorite meats, seafoods, desserts, and, of course, champagne, it's the place. Go for it. You can always fast during the week. 8. Hang Out at the Pools – Our three pools await you, and one is indoor and heated year-round. Main Clubhouse pool features seasonal food and drink service when you get hungry, thirsty, or want to nab a French fry from your lounge chair neighbor. 9. Golf Cart Tours - The beautiful meandering streets, manicured lawns, breathtaking golf courses, and cool green belts call you to a delightful early-evening getaway. Watch a dazzling sunset, but don't speed, swerve, or do wheelies. 10. Charity Events –Throughout the year, we host fun(d) raising events like golf tournaments, a ball drop, parties, dances, luncheons, dinners, and barbeques. We've given hundreds of thousands of dollars to worthwhile local causes, and it always feels great to be a part of the spirit. Join us! 11. Channel 97, Lifestyles, Sun Lakes Life, Website and App – Keep up on all the news and happenings here at Sun Lakes. Once you begin, you'll be amazed at how many Sun Lakes happenings deserve your time. 12. Thank The Workers – Scores of dedicated, hard-working souls are busting their humps to make sure that wherever we are, whatever we're doing, we live in the best community in the world. ~ Jerre Blodgett/Chairperson and Michele Walter, (951) 202-8009
