| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2024 | 33 Bid Whist PLUS Club Spreading Unity rough Music and Community Engagement MLK Music Event: It was a resounding success, leaving attendees from diverse backgrounds captivated by the music and the sense of unity it fostered. It served as a reminder of the enduring legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., and how music can transcend barriers and bring people together. Stay tuned next month for pictures of this event. Thank you to all those who joined in. Upcoming Events: • Juneteenth Celebration - Sat. June 15: Commemorate a significant day in American history that symbolizes freedom and liberation. The event will feature Motown, R&B, and Funk genres, accompanied by the performances of the ReMix Band. • Summer Music Festival - Aug. 3-4: Gear up for a two-day extravaganza at our Summer Music Festival. Here's a breakdown of the exciting lineup: Sat., Aug. 3 will be Salsa Latin with the mesmerizing Susie Hansen-Latin Band. Let the infectious beats transport you to the lively streets of Latin America. Sun., Aug. 4 will be Rhythm N' Soul with the Delaney & Jaymes quartet featuring the talented Jason Weber on saxophone. Enjoy their soulful tunes. Community Engagement: We aim to create memorable musical experiences as well as contribute to the welfare of the community. In a recent partnership with the California Black Women's Health Project, the club distributed free COVID test kits to members. This initiative highlights the club's commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of its community, especially during challenging times. We continue to be a beacon of unity, using the power of music to bring people together with unforgettable experiences that celebrate diverse genres and cultures. Stay tuned for more updates and details as the ticket sale dates approach. We meet the first Friday of every month from 2 to 5:30 pm in the Game Room at The Lodge. We are a welcoming, diverse, and friendly social group who enjoy playing a variety of card/board games, great food, and good times. We will teach any novice, and you'll catch on fast. While the majority of current members primarily play a card game known as Bid Whist, we encourage all our participants to explore their preferences for other table games as they are inclined. You will have fun, enjoy good company, and great food (potluck). If you just want to talk, eat, and catch up on the goings on, that is okay too. So, what is your pleasure — Bones/Dominoes, Bridge, Spades, Uno, Backgammon, Checkers, Cribbage? Regardless of your experience level, please join us for an afternoon of exciting and spirit lifting camaraderie.
