| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2024 | 7 Christmas Holiday Home Tour… thank you! The Holiday Home Tour held on Dec. 16 is the major annual fundraising event sponsored by the Four Seasons Social Committee. 305 tickets were sold for this event and nearly $3,000 was raised for Hemet My City Youth Program. My City Youth is a nonprofit organization that has a stated mission "of guiding youth toward reaching their full potential." The success of this event cannot be understated. Thanks to Four Seasons residents who purchased tickets for this event and also a special gratitude to the folks who decorated and shared their homes to the delight of the tour visitors: Jennie & Don Francis The Lodge Judi Lewis Randy Bostic & Edgar Cantera RaeNell & James Pope Joann Sopata Geri & Joe Richmond Karen & Gene Hikel Mike Yeager & Earl McNeese NYE Celebration: New Orleans' Bourbon Street arrived at Four Seasons Hemet on time for the New Year's Eve Celebration of Mardi Gras. We were greeted with the "second line" of umbrellas parading among the partygoers signifying a new beginning. This followed with a group of "hot… hot… hot" dancers that included a 12-foot dancer which brought everyone on the same level of emotion of festival fun. And, the dancing began. Our thanks to Chef Franciso and his staff for preparing and serving the dinners of prime rib, salmon, and champagne chicken to the guests. Of course, there were the desserts, desserts, and more desserts that were available throughout the evening on the unlimited dessert bar. We danced with music provided by The Lifetime Rockers Band to the witching hour when the old year passed, and we hugged and toasted the new year. Only in Four Seasons can volunteers decorate the Ballroom to bring the glamor and spirit of New Orleans. Many thanks to Margie Coulton and Patti Jones for chairing this event and the many volunteers that made it fun and successful. Happy New Year Four Seasons! Or, Happy Leap Year! If we didn't account for the fractional increase of earth orbiting the sun, we would have summer season in December. (Given how cold it was recently in December and January, that wouldn't have been all that bad.) What do we do about farming, planting, and harvesting without the seasons? Julius Caesar and the Julian Calendar was corrected by Pope Gregory XIII and the now Gregorian Calendar added a full day every four years giving us the leap year and the 29th day in February. But scientists being precise as they are, needed to account for the significance of the earth rotation about the sun is more than 365.25 days but 365.2425 days; thus, not every four years is a leap year. Years not divisible by 400, such 2100 is not a leap year. This is your Trivial Pursuit question of the new (Leap) year. Enjoy!
