Do you have the Chutzpah to join the Yiddish Culture Club as they play Yiddish Word Bingo on March 13 at 7 pm in the South Clubhouse? Each player will be given five game cards which will contain some Yiddish terms, famous Yiddish people or a reference to Yiddish culture. Just when you think things couldn't get better – Lloyd Friedman will delight us with his Master of Ceremony skills. We will provide everything you need to have a delightful evening. There will be prizes for each game and plenty of laughter. We will also celebrate Purim with delicious Hamentashen. Purim commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia from Haman's plot to destroy them. The holiday is marked by reading the Megilah (the story of Esther), dressing up in costumes, giving gifts of food ("mishloach manot") to friends and family, matanot laevyonim (giving charity to orphans or those in need), and enjoying festive meals. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 |47 Yiddish Culture Club The Yiddish Culture Club welcomes all residents of any denomination Ciao Vicini (Hello Neighbors) The Paisano Club wants you! (You don't even have to be Italian! Join us in 2024 for great music, games, dancing, themed decorations, a full meal, and of course, wonderful fellowship around the table. Members and guests are permitted to bring their own beverages, with coffee and water provided. We generally meet the first Friday of each month. If you missed February, you missed a wonderful, electrified evening full of lots of fun. The next event is Fri., March 1 at 5:30 pm, South Clubhouse, for a memorable St. Patrick's Day evening with music from the delightful Larry and Shelia James of JAMESTOWN. Members and guests will enjoy a traditional meal of corned beef and cabbage or a pasta dish for those who don't want corned beef. Come dressed in green so you don't get pinched! You will enjoy the wonderful evening of dinner, music and dancing with themed decorations by Peggy Knox and her awesome committee. All this for just $25 pp. Sign-up deadline is Feb. 26 at 4 pm. If you want to sit with a special friend or at a specific table, or if you prefer the pasta dish, please note on the envelope. Guests may try the club for one time without paying the membership fee and just pay for the dinner, presently $25 for March through November 2024.
