14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 |
The election process reminds us that it
is our obligation and right to make sure we
cast our votes. If we don't vote, we have no
right to complain if things we don't like don't
change. The voting process is so easy for us
because we don't have to drive to a polling
station. The ballots are delivered to our
homes by mail. All we have to do is mark
our ballots for who we believe are the most
qualified candidates and put it in the mail.
Please note, as mentioned in the previous
article, there are three open seats on the
Master Board.
Experience matters, especially here in Sun
Lakes. Sun Lakes is much like a small town.
Here we are governed by laws, rules, and
regulations unlike living in a neighborhood
outside of our community. These laws, rules
and regulations are set up by the State of
California for 55 + communities like Sun
Lakes Country Club.
Which brings to mind, this year we
are all responsible for completing an Age
Verification Form that you have received in
the bag with your March Lifestyles Magazine.
Each resident must complete and return the
form to the Administration Office along with
a copy of your current picture I.D. to ensure
that Sun Lakes Country Club remains a 55 +
senior community. If Sun Lakes fails to meet
the necessary 80 percent, Sun Lakes loses its
55 + standing and all ages can move into our
community.
Let's not let this happen. If it does, we will
no longer enjoy the benefits of living with
friends and neighbors who are about the
same age and have no young children.
The ballot you will receive will also include
the names of the delegates and alternate
delegates, unless they have decided not to
run again. In that case, perhaps someone
new has decided to volunteer to get involved
and run for delegate or alternate delegate
positions that may become vacant in any one
of the 23 districts here in Sun Lakes Country
Club. ~ Delores Daugherty, Vice-Chair,
