46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 | Wine Club Red wine blind tasting event… "Guess the varietal" with us on Fri., March 29 at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse. Just like we did with white wine late 2023, we will be tasting six different red wines. Each bottle will be bagged and attendees will guess what varietal of wine they are tasting, as well as rate the wines using the American Wine Society Evaluation Chart on appearance, bouquet, body, finish and overall impression. The rating sheets are for your review only; it is not a test. Profiles of various red wine varietals will be on the back of the score sheet. After tasting the six wines, the wines will be revealed so that attendees can identify their favorite of the evening. Please BYOG (bring your own glass) and additional wine if you would like to stay for socializing with others following the tasting event. Everyone will receive a raffle ticket as we will be giving away one bottle of each of the six wines of the evening. This event is focused on wine tasting, but attendees will also enjoy gourmet cheeses along with various fruits, crackers and chocolates. A bottle of water to cleanse your palate will also be provided per person. The price for this blind wine tasting is $30 per person and is limited to 64 people. Club members who wish to reserve a table of eight should submit their checks in one envelope with individuals names. Make checks payable to the Sun Lakes Wine Club and drop them off to Steve von Rajcs at 4883 Copper Creek Drive. The deadline is March 22.
