60 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 | Our Tennis Club wishes to make this year a year to make our guests feel welcome, so much so that they decide to join the Tennis Club, even if they do not play tennis. Our Executive Board, chaired by Mark Vanderpool, is making a special effort to host events where everyone has a wonderful time. This emphasis began in February with our Valentine's Day Party. Our newly formed Social Committee, led by Michelle Carter, did a fabulous job with the menu, the music, and the LOVE themed games, a foretaste of what is yet to come. We wish to live out the statement, "We are a social club that also plays tennis." A further addition to this effort to grow membership in our Club, was our President's appointment of Kim Jensen (2023 Member of the Year), to the role of giving guidance and support to prospective and new members. For example, Kim might refer a prospective member to those in the Club who are ready to offer instruction in basic tennis skills.
