Please keep remembrances to 400 words and include one recent, high-resolution photo. Edith Valeria Voelkel was born in her childhood home in Spokane, Washington on March 3, 1932, and passed away in her sleep on October 22, 2023. She is remembered by her six children, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and by so many more dear friends. At a young age in Spokane, Edie began working in retail, and later in life, became an accountant, and controller of several companies until she retired and moved to Sun Lakes Country Club in 1994. She loved being a Sun Laker, and belonged to many of the social clubs, including Garden, Paisano, Bocce, Bowling, ICC Dinner Dance, and others. Edie made her home the gathering place for her family and friends. She loved Christmas and Thanksgiving. She loved to cook, play piano, read, and do crossword puzzles, but Edie loved to travel. She and her husband, Thomas (Tom) Voelkel, traveled throughout the U.S. and the world. Together they experienced cruises in the Caribbean, volcanoes in Hawaii, standing on glaciers in Alaska, flying in hot air balloons over the African plains, touring castles in England and Scotland, and even visiting her ancestral home of Moerna, Italy. Edie was a strong, smart, compassionate, loving, graceful woman, and will be dearly missed by so many. Robert Berbiar May 7, 1940 - January 31, 2024. Richard Berbiar was born in Albany, NY. Richard loved music, photography and collecting daguerreotypes, travel, writing poems, and playing games with his friends. He was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan and enjoyed watching the L.A. Dodgers. He also loved dancing and collecting classic autos. He and his wife were former members of the Orange County Model A Club. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, sons, Michael and Edward, daughter in laws, Yesenia and Emily, grandchildren Crystal and Ernesto, and great grandchildren Noah, MilaRose and Lenny. He was a devoted husband and father. Richard and Sylvia moved to Sun Lakes eight years ago and enjoyed many clubs and activities, including Bocce, Paisano Club, Yiddish Culture Club, and Photography Club.
