| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2024 | 25 Four Seasons Creative Group THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: RON DEWBERRY Every few months I get to meet and talk with a creative member of our community. This month, I sat with Ron Dewberry and learned a little bit about him, his life, and how he became interested in woodworking. Ron was born in Plainview, Texas. At the age of eight his family moved to Hawthorne, California, where he was raised. An interesting side note: the Beach Boys went to the same high school! Ron had some fun stories to share. Ron had a career working in the aerospace industry for McDonnell Douglas, and later for Boeing Co. He worked in many capacities, including Quality Inspector and Project Manager. As time passed, technology became important to the industry. He went to school to learn IT and became a product leader. Ron has always been interested in woodworking. His creative talent in this area grew as he became involved in IT. He attended college classes, went to workshops and was able to purchase an amazing machine which uses computer software to assist in creating all sorts of wonderful art made of wood. After retiring from the aerospace industry, Ron and his wife, Sheryl, spent 12 to 13 years attending weekly shows and art conventions selling his creations. These range from pens, salt and pepper mills to cribbage boards and beyond. You may have seen some of his work at our Four Seasons Lodge Gallery during January and February, or at the Fall Arts & Crafts Event. Recently, again after attending a workshop, Ron has become interested in creating art using wood and epoxy. Striving to create new and interesting art using his tools and mind continues to keep Ron busy. ~ Alison Wieman The Art Group: Royce Jerman offers "Painting Pals" on Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm and "Beading Buddies" on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room at The Lodge. No experience is necessary and all levels are welcome. Her contact information is royce742@gmail.com. Paint and Sip Night: There will be one class during the month of March 2024. Please come join me on Mon., March 18 at 5 pm for our "Paint and Sip" class! I envision this being a relaxing, fun night where you will complete an acrylic painting, and I will guide you through the process. The class fee is $35, which includes all supplies - you just bring your wine (or beverage of choice) and an open mind. The Four Seasons Creative Group Website: The New Virtual Gallery (4seasonscreativegroup.com). We have published our updated website with the NEW Virtual Gallery on Feb. 15. We will publish a new exhibit on the 15th of every month. This website gallery features one creative work in each of the categories per month, per person. The categories are fine arts, crafts, jewelry, photography and digital art.
