| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2024 | 33 Bid Whist PLUS Club The Bid Whist PLUS Social Club wants to express its heartfelt appreciation for the incredible display of unity and talent highlighted at beautiful January 2024 MLK Musical tribute event. The residents truly shone as they showcased their dancing skills, while others enthusiastically cheered on the band players and dancers. This event was a true reflection of the values that Martin Luther King Jr. championed - unity, equality, and love. We continue to spread the message of unity and love in our community, just as Martin Luther King Jr. envisioned via our collaboration with the Tahquitz ROTC Cadets and California Black Women Health Project (CBWHP). The Tahquitz ROTC Cadets presence added a touch of elegance and respect to the event. It was evident that they took great pride in representing the ROTC and serving the community. They aided the residents at the event, and their sharp cadet attire made a huge first impression as greeters. The Club made a significant donation to their school program. The Club has accepted an opportunity to continue to work with the CBWHP and join them with Vaccine Equity Campaign (VEC). The objective is to promote COVID-19 vaccine equity and improve the health outcomes of Black women in California. The Bid Whist PLUS Social Club meets the first Friday of every month from 2 to 5:30 pm in the Game Room at The Lodge. We are a welcoming, diverse, and friendly social group who enjoy playing a variety of card/ board games, great food, and good times. No experience necessary. We will teach any novice, and you'll catch on fast. While the majority of current members primarily play a card game known as Bid Whist, we encourage all our participants to explore their preferences for other table games as they are inclined. You will have fun, enjoy good company and great food (potluck). If you just want to talk, eat, and catch up on the goings on, that is very much okay too. So, what is your pleasure: Bones/Dominoes, Bridge, Spades, Uno, Backgammon, Checkers, Cribbage? Regardless of your experience level, please join us for an afternoon of exciting and spirit lifting camaraderie. For more information, call, or text Donny Brown at (619) 395-7494 or Maurice Bernard Brown at (619) 750-5839. Healthy Living Healthy Living focuses on health-related printed materials that are shared with the class. As seniors, we need to be mindful of finding the "healthy road to travel." We are a support group and know that social interaction is also part of a healthy lifestyle. The Club would like to thank the Four Seasons' Board for its significant financial investment in the File of Life+ (FOL) program, the staff for the considerable time to acquire and copy materials for the program, and club members and numerous other volunteers who stapled, assembled, and inserted materials in envelopes mailed to every resident. We encourage every resident to complete the FOL Form and place the FOL Decal on your front window. Preparing now for a medical emergency may help EMTs save your life when you call 911. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am in the Multipurpose Room. If you have any questions about our program, please call Dave & Karen Tuvim at (626) 710-7163.
