It's hard to believe that two years ago, we were in the 12th year of a drought and that, even with all the rain this year and last, we always face the looming specter of drought. That said, we are all so lucky to live in a beautiful place with conscientious and creative people who safeguard our community, our budget, and our opportunities. The Four Seasons Landscape Committee is a hardworking volunteer group of residents who are vigilant about protecting the health and loveliness of the Four Seasons Beaumont landscape. If you're interested in our committee, I hope that you'll join us for a Friday walk. We welcome new voices who are committed to preserving the beauty of our community. We are also fortunate to have hired the Park West team for the day- to-day work of keeping our plants and trees healthy and beautiful. At this point, I'd like to discuss a couple of ways in which the residents of our community can help. If your trees drop fruit or leaves on your driveway or sidewalk, take the time to clear them away to make your surroundings safer and more attractive for everyone. If you walk your dog, use a leash at all times and pick up your dog's waste. I walk my dog often and on every walk, there's a pile that someone has left behind somewhere. We have plenty of dog waste stations with extra bags; please use them. If your dog needs to run, consider joining the wonderful Canine Corral. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their property and animals in order to keep our community lovely. It will be spring soon with all the new beginnings of spring: sunny days, birds, flowers, trees leafing out … The poet, Ogden Nash said it well, "Let's look forward to what's coming. Spring is around the corner and bringing with it soft rains, blooming flowers, jacket weather, and the smell of growing." ~ Patti Pitts
