March is here, and spring has sprung. Everyone will be Irish one day in March. Don't fret; we will not be serving green wine this month. Here are some things you should know about wine: • Labels can tell you A LOT! • Price is not always indicative of quality. You do not have to spend $200 to enjoy a nice bottle of wine. • Most of the wines sold on the market are meant to be enjoyed immediately. • The best way to learn is to sip. • Grapes will taste different coming from different regions. • Wine is best paired with friends and loved ones. At our January meeting, we enjoyed delightful refreshments, then on to the business of planning our 2024 calendar events. The enthusiasm coming from the members was overwhelmingly positive. Members gave so many fun suggestions and ideas, I think we need an extra month this year. Besides suggesting events, there were volunteers to research and help organize these excursions. The camaraderie with the Divas is heartfelt. This year you may see the Crown Divas boarding a train, or cruise ship, going to a playhouse, entering San Juan Capistrano Mission, or walking into a restaurant. As usual, you will know it's us by our red hats and purple clothing. In between our event discussions we had raffles and the prizes were red hats. The Crown Divas invite and establish a sisterhood with women from all walks of life. We believe in being there for one another in sad or difficult times. We encourage, support, and cheer each other on in future endeavors. Our goal is to be ourselves, enjoy the camaraderie, and just have fun! ~ Irma Romero (Sugar Mama), Irmabsromero@gmail.com 48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2024 Crown Divas Four Seasons Taste d'Vine FS Veterans Park The 300+ rocks that were painted by the HOA for the dedication of the FSB Veterans Park are fading and disappearing. Only 271 remain. Weeds are also growing beneath the piles and landscaping is difficult. The Veterans Club is proposing a concept to the HOA for another method of honoring our residents (past and present) who served their country with military service. The concept is based on the following criteria: • Tradition: Names and branch(es) of service of veterans will be portrayed in a manner similar to other veteran parks and cemeteries and conducive to future expansion. • Cost: Each veteran or their sponsor will pay for their name and branch identification to include installation and maintenance. • Environment: The parklike environment of Veterans Park will be minimally disturbed, if at all. To initiate the program, it is necessary for a minimum of 48 applicants to register and pay their fee for their marker. The current plan is to have 4" x 4" cement tiles inscribed with name and branch. Tiles would then be mounted horizontally (on the ground or table) or vertically (on a wall). Each tile would cost $25. At March Air Reserve Base in a wide-open airfield environment are 6,000 tiles mounted on a cement platform. The current plan is to mount similar tiles on a much, much smaller platform. On a 48" x 16" space, 48 tiles could be mounted. On a 4' x 8' platform, 288 tiles could be mounted. All Four Seasons veterans are encouraged to attend our meeting March 22 at 10 am in the Game Room. ~ Len Tavernetti, ltavernetti@hotmail.com With that being said, Taste d'Vine Wine Club is happy to welcome back Ben Mozaffari, owner of Uptown Wine Merchant in Yucaipa. They offer wines from around the globe, small batch producers, local wines, organic wines, natural wines, biodynamic wines, certified carbon neutral wines, ciders, and craft beer. Last year was a great success with some great tasting wines at a good price. Please join us on Thursday, March 21 at 6 pm in the Ballroom. ~ Gino Domico, gdomico@gmail.com
