58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2024
Well we are quickly approaching spring here in beautiful
Beaumont. This is my absolute favorite time of year to
play pickleball. The weather is usually near perfection, the
courts are completely dry, we can take off our parkas and
earmuffs. There's just excitement looming. In addition to
all of that, our winter hibernators are back out playing.
In January we had a truly amazing in-house tournament.
For the first time that I know of, we had two age categories,
69 and below and 70 and above. This worked out so well.
If you have any aspirations of staying young and looking
good, start pickleball now — not tomorrow, not the next
day — but now. We had 14 players at 70 and above play
in the tournament. Not only do they play like young kids,
they all look like youngsters too. Check out the photos.
Not only was there great play but delicious breakfast
burritos to help with the high energy level of the whole day.

70 and above: First place, Jeromee Liebenberger and

Kelly Vucinic, our steering committee tournament
director, did an amazing job of pulling this whole thing
together as always. Thank you to everyone who assisted
her.
