FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2024 59 Every ping pong player wants to improve their game. Progress in the game is our most important product. Below, thanks to Jeff Plumb from PingSkills, are suggestions from a great coach. Have you ever thought about how much our niy brains influence our table tennis game? Your brain is just as important as your backhand. Here are some tips that will help you transform your game. Breathe and Be Awesome: Between points, take a deep breath – it's like hitting the reset button on your brain. Give it a try! Picture Perfect Plays: Imagine acing those shots before the game even starts. It's like giving your confidence a high-five! Challenges are Fun, Right?: Every tricky shot is a chance to show what you're made of. Bring it on! Pat Yourself on the Back: Got a point, a game, a match? Do a little victory dance! Celebrating keeps things fun and fuels your fire. By following these four coaching tips, you're not just playing table tennis – you're mastering it by keeping your head in the game and your spirits high. Come play ping pong with us Monday to Saturday from 2 to 4 pm. We use solid paddles and low-pressure tennis balls (green with a black dot). Traditional standard court is a little larger than a pickle court. At the Australian Open there was a Paddle (Pop) tennis demo court set up near the Rod Laver Arena and in front of John Cain Arena. Tennis and Paddle (Pop) tennis are a perfect match. We have a group of players who play all three paddle sports: pickleball, paddle and tennis. If you're one of those who play all three and are interested in participating in our First All Paddle Battle Tournament, please contact me at ecgallegos@outlook.com. Grab your favorite paddle and call up your best mates to compete in a Trifecta tournament of paddle sports. I'm hoping for enough interest so we can plan this tournament for September. Looking forward to seeing you on the paddle court. Welcome to our two new members, John and Thekla Seigman. ~ Lizzie Gallegos, ecgallegos@outlook.com Paddle Tennis We're heading into early spring with (hopefully) the wet weather behind us. We've had a couple of good days to play but mostly rain. Bocce Ball is played Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 am at The Summit. Play is on beautiful tournament-grade courts with sideboards. With good weather, we usually fill the two courts. We look forward to adding new players to our group. The game of bocce ball requires no specific skill or previous experience. You get a little exercise, and enjoy a beautiful view and breezes at The Summit, all while having a great time with a great group of people. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us. Any questions, please call or text me at (840) 234-6494 or email hanknegrete16@yahoo.com. ~ Hank Negrete Bocce Ball Fishing Club The rain and wind killed fishing. It is a real shame because I have new people wanting to go fishing with the club. As I am writing this article it is, guess what, raining. When I was young, I fished in the rain and wind with no problems. Now that I am a senior citizen I would catch cold and die if I fished in the rain. It's tough to get old. I will promise you all that next month I will have some fishing pictures and new stories to tell you about. My wife even said she would go fishing with me. Of course the weather has to be perfect for her to go. Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember, have a great time when you do get to go fishing. ~ Richard Carrasco, ricarrasco52@gmail.com
