14 | THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2024 |
As we are approaching springtime and warmer temperatures, now is the time
to see what toll winter has taken on your home. Check for rust on your wrought-
iron fences and gates, stains on your stucco from overflowing gutters or rusty
bolts, stucco damage on the weep screed, wood trim that may need touchup, and
weathered and ripped window screens that need repair. Catching these problems
now will save you from headaches and costly repairs down the road.
If you are planning to install solar, consult with your dealer to keep visible
conduit to a minimum. Many installers run conduit through the garage or attic,
when possible, which gives the home a cleaner look. If this is not a viable option,
please make sure all conduit is painted to match your stucco, gutters, and roof color.
The committee will be working with Sherwin Williams to make a few revisions
and additions to the paint book. This is a lengthy process and will not be finished
until much later in the year.
ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL By Gloria Brosky and Lori Dalfonso
Our committee (CATCOM) is grateful to the HOA Board for
approving our recommendation to purchase a new LED followspot
for the Auditorium. A followspot is a special type of profile lantern
which has been adapted to be moved around by an operator to follow
a performer on stage. Although the practical operation of the lantern
is simple, doing it well requires a great deal of practice. This new
instrument will allow much more lighting control and focus for all
stage events and performances. The audience is sure to enjoy the
change.
We are preparing for the committee's Open House on Wednesday,
May 1, which will feature this new acquisition and showcase its value
to our community. We have a remarkably talented and dedicated
communication team.
